There is exactly one potential silver lining here: Halloween Fixed Week Contract With 350 cabins, I see ZERO need to ever own a fixed week at this resort.
For comparison, Poly has 360 studios, so about the same size. (there are 20 bungalows too)

With 350 "trailer" villas, I hope they would build an exclusive DVC clubhouse with a new pool. I don't want to have to share my Grey Poupon with the yokels.

Are the current cabins on wheels? I just assumed they are covered by the siding that could be easily removed to haul them out.

Disney learned a long time ago that DVC can be used to subsidize amenities. Check-in, pools, transportation, etc will now be partially paid for by DVC members. Disney loves the cash cow of DVC. They make money not just in the sale of the points, but forever going forward with reduced costs and a captured guest.

Yup.....I had been keeping an eye out for new construction/renovation. All they have to do here is pullout the existing modular and install a new modular structure. Then they will have to furnish them.
Taking cheap and easy to a whole new level. And by cheap, I mean for the cost for DVC to build (purchase) these modular structures and just replace over the existing. To me this seems like a way to get DVC to pay for the cost of replacing the cabins. There’s no rush to declare and sell the points because there will be enough demand for cash bookings. But there will be a cost to add some of the amenities, like a pool.

I think there is a new pool being added though, and I doubt it’ll be open to the campers. I assume it’ll be gated like the Bay Lake one. I feel like they do have to make this “deluxe” not moderate, even with the restrictions.

Besides, at the end of the day, Disney will not be paying for the pool or the staff of the pool.
For the record all of the combination DVC/Hotel Resorts - BCV, BWV, WL/CCV, Jambo, VGF, Poly, all share the feature pools with the hotels. The quiet pools are the ones that tend to be DVC exclusive.

Hmmm, you have a good point. But Bay Lake doesn’t. And all those other DVC / Hotel resorts are Deluxe resorts. FW Campgrounds isn’t. And when they built Riviera they made sure the pools were exclusive to the CBR guests. on the other hand the proposed name for the resort is "The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort - A Disney Vacation Club Resort" - which is ambiguous, but does suggest to me it’s a Resort in its own right, like Riviera. BLT is Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. And although I said there was no rush to sell the points they do have to sell them eventually! My view is they’ll have to make this exclusive in some way to be able to sell it, otherwise it’ll end up being WDW’s Aulani. Guess we’ll have to be patient and wait for more details. Something which DVC members, and Disney fans in general, aren’t very good at. 😂

Neither is quiet and Contemporary main pool IMO is a bit better. I do agree they'll have to make it better because right now the only reason why they are moderate in level is due to the cabin aspect. The grounds lack what is needed to make it deluxe.

I think that's the reason why I sour on me SSR treehouses. I also need to use an accessible one and those are the farthest from the resort center. They're out by the road. I went exploring one time. For me and my family, just getting a regular two bedroom or two bedroom lock off suits our needs perfectly.
The Polly bungalows are nice. I've taken a tour of them. But they're so incredibly expensive point-wise. That sours me.
I haven't really looked at the Boulder ridge cabins though. I don't know maybe I would give the fort wilderness cabins a try. My biggest concern is that they're so far away from pioneer Hall. One of the reasons why I don't stay at Animal Kingdom is because it's so far away from everything else. I guess it's one of my personal preferences.
My homes are Bay Lake, Boardwalk and Saratoga. I like Saratoga because it's within walking distance of Disney Springs. And I like Disney Springs. The other two are self-explanatory.

Wow, this is the most unexpected news re: DVC and I thought it was a joke. While I have fond memories of staying at Fort Wilderness many years ago, it will require quite an upgrade (cabin vs. trailer, lazy river, transportation other than bus) for me to want to use any of my points there. Never a dull moment with Disney these days!

One time, when I was a new school bus driver, I was leaving the lot and I saw a guy I was friends with who was just coming in the lot. I stopped with my window open, arm on the window sill, leaning out a little. He pulled up next to me with his driver's window open, so were face to face. He said, "What?" I asked him if he had any Grey Poupon.
Next thing I know, he couldn't talk and he just drove away laughing.

Wonder how long it will take Disney to remove all existing cabins?
My brother and wife have a reservation early in November for a week in a cabin. He brings his dog(very small Yorkie ) and stays at cabins because they allow pets. Another brother and wife will be at the campground in their motor home. This trip has been in the making for months this time. Multi-family trip that was originally scheduled and postponed due to Covid. DH and I along with children’s families (3 kids and spouses and 6 grandchildren) will be at Boulder Ridge.
It would be a real bummer if Disney wants to move him somewhere else. He would probably cancel.
