I have watched several reviews about the new Disney Wish. The main issue I keep hearing repeated is that it was not created with Adults in mind. Has anyone cruised the Wish? Can you comment on it from an adult cruisers prospective? I had the Wish booked but cancelled in and booked an Alaskan cruise on NCL. Hope I won’t regret doing that. Comments appreciated!!

We have a Wish cruise booked at the end of January. First cruise for us because I deal with pretty severe motion sickness, but we decided to try a 3 night trip to the Bahamas. The info I've read says there is definitely attention paid to the adult guests and their needs. I'm hoping this turns out to be a new favorite vacation!

I have no info to add, but I'm curious as to what kinds of things are making people say it's not designed with adults in mind?
We have only cruised once, years ago on the Wonder I think, just us two adults, I feel like it had a nice mix of adults-only stuff. Basically the pool area and every night we spent in the piano bar.

We have only cruised one time, but my wife was worried because she gets car sick easy. I'm not pretending it's as bad as what you get, I don't know. But there's rides she can't do and if she faces backwards on the bus it's game over. But once on the cruise ship, you can't even tell you are moving, in our experience.

The bar areas are scattered throughout the ship. The coffee area ( forget the name at the moment) is really reduced in size so not much of an area to sit. They changed the refillable beer mug terms ( I know first world problems ). Just some of the things I am hearing. That’s why I am curious if anyone has experienced this or any other issues first hand.

Thanks Adelard! That's very reassuring! Sounds like your wife and I could vacation together while the rest of you go ride FoP, BTMRR, Space Mountain and Everest, as well as facing backwards in the bus!! haha
This trip is just DH and I with an additional week at WDW after our Wish travels. Our children are adults and out on their own, so we are enjoying some additional free time as well as freedom from tuition payments!! Now the next step is to get DH to retire!!!

This trip is just DH and I with an additional week at WDW after our Wish travels. That sounds perfect! After a lifetime of travel and amusement parks, I haven't found a ride yet that makes me feel queasy or weird. My sister gets it bad, though, I don't know how she managed all the years we were little, we would go to Busch Gardens or Sea World or Knott's or Six Flags or whatever and pick the biggest, newest thing they had and just ride it alllll daaaayyyyyy And my mom won't ride anything faster than the carousel. The "waterfall" section in Pirates is pushing it. And she said there's a section in Peter Pan where your ship, flying through the air, takes a little dive just for a moment, and she almost can't handle it. When I was young, there was a trip where my sister wasn't with, so I managed to convince my mom and dad to go on teacups with me. I was NOT allowed to touch the wheel, though...so that was an odd ride You mentioned Everest and Big Thunder, I have trained my wife to go on those but she's still scared of Everest and keeps her eyes closed during the backwards part, and she can only do Big Thunder a couple times then she gets kinda shaky and used up. Same with Star Tours. She won't touch Pandora.

We sailed on the Wish in August and were not happy. Now, keep in mind, we have sailed numerous times on the classic ships so our perspective was coming from having sailed on the Dream, Fantasy, and Magic. The ship is beautiful and the we couldn't even tell we were moving half the time so the newer technology in the engine is definitely a plus. Our main issue was the layout of everything. The adult area is very small, as is Cove Cafe. There are several decks that come to dead ends. There is no walking 'track' as on the other ships, unless you want to go up and down several sets of stairs. The bars are scattered throughout. Some people like this, I am not one of them, lol. I liked having an adult district where everything we tucked away together. You could go from one to the other easily. On the Wish they are mostly Midship but on different decks. They also took out many of the portholes where you could see out to the ocean. Part of this is because the restaurant Arandell, takes up one deck from Midship to Aft and the windows are all covered. They also covered the windows by Guest Services in the Atrium. And the elevators.....well, there are only 2 banks instead of 3. I understand there are technically more elevators than on the other ships but when people are dispersing from a show or dinner, 2 banks is tough. I want to give the Wish another try but DH was so put off by it that he's a no-go. So we'll see if we go on it again. I think that if it's your first DCL cruise, you'll love it because you have no expectations. We were hoping for a 'new and improved' version of the others but were disappointed.

We have only been on the Wish. We loved it. We are sailing again in May on the Wish. We have nothing to compare it to of course. We are not lounge people. DH loves food and he loved the food options on the Wish.

These are some of the things I have been reading about. Another is how small the movie theaters are. I know it’s sounds like a silly thing, but part of the excitement of sailing is seeing first run Disney movies on the ship. The other complaints I hear is also how small the adult pool is. So if you are used to the classic ships, especially the Dream and Fantasy, this is a major change. We just could not pull the trigger this time. Thanks for your comments.

I start taking meds for it a day before our vacation so I have it onboard prior to flights, buses, etc. and will be in full force once on the ship. Congrats on your first Disney cruise!
