Lower Decks is rude and hilariously funny. And it pokes fun at so many Star Trek episodes. Little inside things that only someone steeped in the Trek lore would get. Some are more accessible and some are deeper jokes. And the guest stars from other series are fun. This is on Paramount, I assume? I've always wanted to watch it. Maybe if I bide my time, my wife (the tv watcher in the house) will someday pay for that channel and then I can watch them all. I've watched all the older Treks up to and through the one with Scott Bakula (back when you actually had to tune in every week at a certain time), Next Gen being my fav. Lower Decks makes me think of Next Gen meets Futurama, based on commercials. Heard TNG, DS9, Lower Decks, and Enterprise mentioned, but I was wondering about Star Trek: Discovery. Yea, or nay?

It's OK. Some interesting ideas, but not as strong as TNG or DS9. It starts out well (and I had seen only the first 6 episodes and it was like 4 or so years before I got to see more). I liked it enough, but I'm a Trek nerd. Being more objective, I'd say it's OK.
Michelle Yeoh is a badass, and a strong point for the show.
Cheers.

Last night we finished the second (and final) season of Julia on Max. I have mixed feelings about the series. Incredible acting and casting. A little heavy on the social justice storylines. I'd like to see a season 3 go back in time to the years before she wrote the cookbook.
Next up is How To with John Wilson, also on Max. We watched the first episode last night. It's awkward, quirky, poignant and fun.

I had to look up who that was as the name was not familiar. But I did like his character, and then learned that he played Lucius Malfoy in Potter.
Cheers.

Speaking of Star Trek, my wife had "Murder She Wrote" on in the background and I said, "Hey, that's Q!" John de Lancie playing one of the characters in that particular show. I found it interesting that not only his voice, but the words he was using, his intonations, and his rapid-fire delivery was all the same, including his somewhat "aloof" vibe.
Then I was stuck trying to describe to wife what it meant when I said he was Q.

In more "Star Trek meets Murder She Wrote" news, one last night had LeVar Burton on it! I told wife, "I just can't get used to seeing his eyes, though"

Just watched "Damsel" on Netflix with Millie Bobby Brown, Robin Wright and Angela Bassett. I'm not really into knights and dragons movies but it was pretty cute.

"One Love" Bob Marley.
We have now seen a musical about Marley's life in London, an actual documentary of film with Marley himself and now this Biopic. They were all brilliant, including this. The level of emotion in this movie was even beyond what either of us expected. The executive producer was his son, Ziggy, who came on at the beginning to talk about the film and how he felt it was an accurate reflection of his father's life.
What an interesting human being, taken too young from us by cancer. Well worth seeing. The soundtrack alone is enough...but it's Bob Marley.
Cheers.

Glad to hear this is great, I've been meaning to see it. We actually meant to go opening day but it was nearly sold out (except for the seats way up front) so we didn't end up going yet.

PBS/Masterpiece had all new shows on Sunday night! New season of Call the Midwife; Nolly; and Alice and Jack. All were great first episodes and I look forward to watching throughout the season, or via PBS Passport (the best $5.00 I spend a month).
