Thanks for the head up about Oppenheimer. DH wants to see it. It is superb. Not sure how it will translate to the small screen for some scenes (this was one where we really wanted the big screen experience), but it will still be great.
All the more chilling because it's real.
Cheers.

I agree that Oppenheimer was a really good film. I didn't see it at the theater but it worked well on my 85" with decent sound.
Also just watch a movie that surprised me that I liked it, "Made in Italy" staring Liam Neeson and his son. It is one of those father and son reconnecting movies and I believe is on Netflix or Hulu.

We watched Oppenheimer last night and I agree that it was a really good movie. But it wasn't what I expected. It was more about the interpersonal relationships of those involved in the project than it was about the project itself. Nonetheless, still better than the majority of crap they're putting out these days.

Netflix has a documentary out about “ Einstein and the Atomic Bomb”. Now that I’ve seen Oppenheimer, I think I will understand this relationship more. I’ll try watching it.

we enjoy streaming on Paramount+ the CBS series "Ghosts" -30 minute sitcom about a couple who inherit a manor home and all the ghosts that died and reside there. Great character development and quirky backstories. Apparently there is a BBC version as well I am amazed that I have never seen those actors in other shows (maybe they are Broadway types).

We saw Opperheimer in the theatre and a definite must see. My daughter worked in the film industry and is a huge Christopher Nolan fan so she did the Oppenbarbie weekend thing. (if you watch the movies in reverse order its Barbieheimer). I grew up in Oak Ridge,Tennessee where the plutonium bomb, Fat Man, was built for the Manhattan Project. Guard towers and green roads were the norm when the town was built as a military installation. I worked at CARL (Comparative Animal Research Laboratory) in high school and college on the surviving livestock exposed during the Trinity tests and their offspring. I had a front row seat to access some of the information, photographs, and long term studies with the scientists tasked with garnering information. It was a fascinating time for me, so the movie was a must see.

There was no way we were going to do that. In addition to being a long day, I felt that it would denigrate the significance of the events in Oppenheimer to make it into a pop culture event. We did see, and love, Barbie. But on a different day.
Cheers.

We just finished Welcome to Wrexham today. I missed several episodes here and there, and will probably go back and watch. DH and I both really enjoyed the 2 seasons.I didn't do any research on any of this, or any outcomes, so no spoilers as I watched. I do remember hearing about Ryan Reynolds doing this project, buying the team, I thought it might be a joke,. but it was real. Very entertaining series.
DH is down there watching Oppenheimer. I might watch it later, and DS wants to watch it, but I didn't realize it was rated R for some nudity.

Just saw “Barbie” tonight. There is no way it should be competing with “ Oppenheimer “ for movie of the year. Not even mentioned in the same sentence. And no way I would be showing this movie to any girl. Such a poor personification of women and how they relate to men. So many innuendos in this film. Lots of other adjectives I could use but I shall refrain.

She saw a movie in which women realized that they were empowered to be at least equal to men and to handle their own affairs. The speech by America Ferreira was particularly powerful in this regard.
But different folks will see things differently and it's all good.
Cheers.

I watched "Einstein and the Atomic Bomb" on Netflix, it touched on his involvement with the bomb but really not much at all about the Manhattan Project. More of a documentary than a story like Oppenheimer was. Still good and an important part of history.
