I was just “looking” at dining availability at Disney trying to guess what I might be able to get at 60 days and as I looked at MDE I noticed Genie + is $29 a person today—-Geez!!! We have an extended family trip planned for November. I know it is sometimes less per day, but by November I can imagine Veterans Day week may be in this range. We are a group of 12; most have not been to WDW in years so will want to do as many rides as possible. We will be there 6 days with maybe one resort day.
12 X $29= $348 for our November group for one day. Five days would be $1740 on top of tickets. 5 or 6 day park hoppers (no annual passes since Covid)
Getting ridiculous!!
So glad we have DVC!!! Beginning to think resort only trips will be in our future. If this “vent” is in the wrong forum, feel free to move it!!

I am with you. The cost is ridiculous. Maybe they are trying to make as much money as possible before the state of Florida takes over or the cast members go on strike.
We have a vacation planned in October and the estimated cost is getting out of hand with Genie+ and increases in food prices.

Yeah, we've no plans of using G+ due to the cost. Iger says he believe is G+ and will not abandon it so we're hoping he'll throw DVC or AP people a bone with a freebie LL perk.

I refused to use Genie + on our last trip - I made sure the family took advantage of early morning and the couple evenings. We definitely didn’t accomplish as much as we did when we had the Fastpass system, but I dont want to add support to the Genie+ system. I’m still hoping they get rid of it(I know- unrealistic expectations😩)

I’m still hoping they get rid of it(I know- unrealistic expectations😩) I'd pay for Genie+ on some days if we could pick in advance. I think that having a free ability to get priority on attractions is unrealistic and I'm glad it lasted as long as it did. But it's certainly not something I expect for free, so I will support it if it meets my needs. Having to do this at 7AM when I'm likely out running doesn't meet my needs.
Cheers.

While I never like paying for something that was once free, overall we've had pretty good success using G+, and we have a sense for what days it's beneficial vs. when we can skip it. I can see how it's a financial burden for a larger group during peak times. I just saw that it's sold out today.

It just seems like a money grab to me. And I don't want to pay for something that was once free. when we moved from FL we couldn't renew our FL resident AP's, who knew they would discontinue AP?? I'm not holding my breath to see if they return. but by nature I'm an optomist, so I keep hoping. Historically, Disney has had some creative ticket pricing mechanisms. My ex sister in law still has days on her old no-expiration 10-day ticket. (And she hates WDW, so go figure?!?) Hopefully, they will be throwing DVC members some real incentives to keep our family returning for park experiences. Until then, we go to the resorts for down time, enjoying resort features and different dining experiences. .

It just seems like a money grab to me. . Alternatively an attempt to increase profits by a publicly-traded company with a fiduciary responsible to maximize shareholder value. Why would a for-profit company not monetize something that people are clearly willing to pay for? That would be extremely poor business sense. And that is something Disney cannot accurately be accused of
Sure, it would be great if prices were lower and many things were free, but that's just not realistic. Well, if they plan to pay employees a reasonable wage and return shareholder value.
Cheers.

With G+ at $29, today was the first day it has sold out. Not surprised it sold out...crowded week: President's Week (Majority of New England schools have break) Mardi Gras is this Tuesday Princess Marathon is next weekend as well Normally my break doesn't coincide, but it did a few years ago - TOO CROWDED for us for what is usually a quieter time!

I happen to peek too and was shocked. When we went in January I think it is 15.00 so we did it. Heading there in 2 weeks and will change my planning because I will not pay 90 a day. We are there 6 nights and doing 1 day at GKTWV so planned 4-5 days in parks but will change that as needed. Just 1 question - if we did park reservation but do not go it doesn't count correct? I booked our arrival day since we get in by 10am and have dinner at 6p so did it just in case we want to hit MK for a bit ( staying at BLT). Again if we did not need to do it we would just wing it...

We don't buy genie+ typically, not because it's too expensive, but because I don't like the way it works. If I could get the old FP+ system with 3 advance FP for each day I have a ticket, I'd probably have bought it every trip.
We've used genie+ exactly twice, and both times we have only gotten 2 rides each out of it each time. It just doesn't work well with our style of park touring.

I know it’s crowded but park reservations are doing a good job of limiting those crowds, relatively speaking. We were there over Christmas and it didn’t sell out then. Sadly it shows that price alone will not stop people buying it, which means they can increase the price more often. However this could be the “new normal” way of limiting the numbers having G+ , so that they are capping the numbers much lower.

Not surprised at the G+ price. Holiday weekends are slammed like this.

How does it work at WDW? Do you need to enter the park before you make your first selection? That’s the way it works at DL. Even rolling in late morning during Christmas week I could still get at least five selections throughout the day.
