My son bought a single induction burner and loves it. Some day maybe we will change over but the Bosch appliances we have just keep on ticking.

I was moving a vehicle around the other day and I wanted to show off my keychain. I love it, it's metal, it's engraved on both sides, if I was at Gurgling Suitcase getting a couple beverages and it was by the register with a sign that said 24.95 I probably would have gotten it. But Disney doesn't make cool stuff like this these days, so I had somebody make it for me on Etsy and I think I paid her about $30.

Decided to mess with the a/c a little in one of the cars today, it's been doing almost nothing and the weather has not been conducive to that. Me: gonna add two cans of freon, hey that works a lot better now Also me: think I'll take the glove box out and make the "recirculate" work for the first time in forever ALSO me: now that seems to be working, how come when I set it to outside air, there is almost zero flow? Cabin air filter: Hey, remember me? Almost 8 years and 100,000 miles ago?

That's an awesome keychain!
We need to check on the AC in my kid's car. Not very strong but it's not a very new car either.

Proper air conditioning is essential.
Unfortunately will need to replace my house's unit soon. Not going to like those prices at all, but it is of course for me likely the most valuable item I own...

GE cafe is beautiful. You can pick your finish and what finish you want for the handles. My neighbor, across the street (who sadly passed last week) his whole kitchen was GE cafe. The first time I saw his kitchen I regretted taking the builders up grade appliance package. I didn’t go with the builders selection of refrigerators and purchased separately. We went with Bosch, for that. I have a bosch dishwasher. We redid our cabinets I think 2019 and my fridge went caput out of the blue. Less than a year old. I was really close to swapping to all stainless but had committed to all white cabinets (and eventually walls) with a coppery and bronze tones flecked in dark countertops. Stainless just didn't do it for me with that set up. I love the finishes on the Cafe appliances and tbh if my fridge weren't only 4 years old I'd swap that too for the matching matte white and bronze fridge and microwave too (cuz it's over the range and why not?). I had looked at the fridge but it was out of stock due to timing so I went with a regulae GE. We swapped out dishwashers when I redid the cabinets and counters so I got a Bosch then for that. Had I known what I know now about appliances and induction I would have redone them all. I went with white cabinets in this house, too. We just moved two years ago in May. But I went with stainless. Though I had white in my old house. It’s a bit of a pain, even the fingerprint proof one’s really aren’t. But it is what it is as they say. My neighbor had the whole nine yards of the cafe the microwave over the stove, the fridge it really is great looking. They have a coffee maker that I considered because I love the GE cafe look. If I didn’t love my Braun that lets you make a pot of coffee, but you can make a single cup from 8,12, or a travel cup. No k cups which I’m not a fan of just put the coffee in the filter for a single serve. And has a separate spout for hot water for tea. Can you tell I love this coffee maker, lol. But I love the look of the cafe. I had to replace a fridge that was two years old before moving, because the previous unbeknownst to me had an issue well know to Samsung, and basically was not fixable, ugh. Of course I found this out after researching the problem and there were tons of complaints, lawsuits etc. of course due to Covid and supply issues, I had to get SS as white was unavailable for about a year…. I just needed a damn fridge that didn’t fill with water in the veggie bins and lower shelf’s because of a malfunction from the freezer. Another real plus for induction that no-one talks about is it greatly reduces your need for venting. (vs gas, I mean) But a real downside for induction is if you happen to have a wok or something other than flat - only the flat part of your pots and pans that are contacting the induction surface are getting hot. So a wok would not really work at all. Engineering-wise, I don't know how high up from the surface the fields project...millimeters maybe? And of course their power drops off like crazy with distance. I've been playing with my single burner and really am a fan. Been reading that flat bottom carbon steel woks work well on induction. But I don't wok cook often. Fortunately all my pots are already good with induction. One my husband bought does not lol but we can figure it out. Taste Made makes carbon steel pans. I just brought my first (non stick 12”) from them. I started seeming the advertised on TV about a year ago. Family owned background restaurants. I did some research and the ratings were excellent. They are up there with WS All-Clad. It’s made in the USA or in Italy which I prefer over being made in China.

Of no relation to anything, so I thought I'd stick it here in this thread. I was watching a vintage cooking show and you could tell the guy was in a hurry to make the clock; he was plating food and putting it on the countertop to show and some fell off the front of the countertop. They did the right thing and pretended it didn't happen.
My sister-in-law grew up cooking in a local hole-in-the-wall diner that was family run (not her family but she views them as family) from like age 14 or something. The place is gone but I used to go in the back door and into the kitchen and watch her work the line, giant flat top on one side and assembly line on the other, by herself, doing this for 20-something years and you could tell it was nothing. Throwing together breakfasts and sandwiches and steaks and pushing on them to check doneness etc. Dump fries on, throw plate on the counter and ring that bell Ding! to tell the waitresses something was ready. Well she used to tell the story about way back in the day, had to have been late-80s or so, the cook who's name escapes me but let's call him Lenny, he'd stand there with a lit cigarette hanging out of his mouth, and make food and plate it and push the plates onto the little countertop and ring the bell Ding! He'd get so mad at the waitresses not getting the orders out fast enough, and the plates would stack up on that countertop Ding! Until he'd shove a plate on the counter Ding! and one would push off the front and crash to the floor, he'd swear up a storm in the back, cigarette in his mouth, and he'd keep going on the next steak and eggs or burger. I can watch her cook at home to this day and you can tell he rubbed off on her.
