I still find it funny that this is called the "February" 2023 chatty thread. Like, maybe we should just change it to just 2023? Or even just "The chatty thread" lol?

I may have mentioned it a few times that the thread title is a bit off. But like usual, Brian does his Brian thing and ignores my suggestions.

I’ll NEVER go back to an electric stove, EVER! Gas is so much better all the way around. Here’s hoping your kitchen gets done soon! With the likely exception of convection. From everything I've read, this is superior to even gas for heat uniformity and cooking effectiveness. Will possibly go that way, but would need to do some wiring. Cheers. I have a dual fuel currently. I bought a cheapy induction burner to see what all the fuss was about. Yeah induction wins by miles. And I took forever to get my current range in. I'll be swapping at some point. We had electric before the dual fuel. Entirely gas before that. Gas ovens are bad to me but loved gas ranges. So weird, I was so sold on dual fuel and now I'm willing to make the change. Not in a rush so searching for best deals. After a fridge fiasco years ago I'm not rushing to hose up my kitchen again LOL I will say the pot handles when doing induction don't even get as hot. I can clean up the burner pretty much immediately after I'm done. I already know which I'll buy since not many white (and gosh darn it I'm keeping my all white cabinets & appliances tyvm lol) but I'm kinda waiting to see if the rebate thing comes to fruition since I like saving money.

We are electric oven and gas stove. We moved to all stainless, so that will be easy to find. But I'll also see if the rebates for going electric materialize as well. I already have a guy who can do the conduit and wiring from the panel. I can do most of it, but bending conduit just right is not my specialty. He's great at it.
Cheers.

Cheers. I hear you! I did some work putting in wire for my EVSE in my garage when I got my Mini EV. That stuff is rough to work with! Our set up is good for all gas, all electric, or dual. I'm sure my house started all gas and then was updated with the panel to handle all electric. Then when I opted to move to dual fuel after buying the house, it was easy. Fortunately the all white I want is a brand I'd want to buy anyway so it's all good. If not, I'll be looking into appliance painters for me I hear Bosch is a good brand but GE Profile is great for induction. Probably moving to dual oven as well. The rebate was supposed to be here, but so far no sign of it. Hoping for end of the yar or next. I can be patient.

.
Definitely love my gas for the control. I would never go to standard electric. I had a place with an electric stove and had a friend who worked ion HVAC plumb it for gas. From everything I've read about induction (yeah, induction ), the control and sensitivity are better/finer than gas. And nothing other than the cookware actually gets hot. Definitely something to try, but the general consensus is that this is the next step in control beyond standard gas. We've been doing so many DIY house improvements (most recent was addition of a bunch of cameras and a security system), that I'll certainly take a break before even considering this move. The standalone induction burner would come first. But, if the reviews are true, this would be an improvement in cooking control over gas. Cheers.
Must admit, I am not that familiar but my curiosity is peaked so I will have to do some reading about it.

I just need help with he conduit part.Runnign wire is straightforward, but Jose is younger than I am and crawling around is harder for me
wiring in the cooktop will be easy.
Cheers.

We rewired a ton of our house that wasn't up to code years ago. Doing this EVSE was like "nope hiring out next time" instead of doing it ourselves with supervision of a retired guy who knows all code. Do you know if there is supposed to be rebates for installation costs for swapping to electric? They offered that and rebates on my actual EVSE when we installed. I also need to find out if a dual fuel really does qualify me, but not much real info is out there.

We've been doing a bunch of other stuff now (cameras, alarm system) and this switch is on the back burner, so to speak. haven't looked seriously yet. [/div] Retirement is busy Cheers.
GE cafe is beautiful. You can pick your finish and what finish you want for the handles. My neighbor, across the street (who sadly passed last week) his whole kitchen was GE cafe. The first time I saw his kitchen I regretted taking the builders up grade appliance package. I didn’t go with the builders selection of refrigerators and purchased separately. We went with Bosch, for that.

Another real plus for induction that no-one talks about is it greatly reduces your need for venting. (vs gas, I mean)
But a real downside for induction is if you happen to have a wok or something other than flat - only the flat part of your pots and pans that are contacting the induction surface are getting hot. So a wok would not really work at all. Engineering-wise, I don't know how high up from the surface the fields project...millimeters maybe? And of course their power drops off like crazy with distance.

The first time I saw his kitchen I regretted taking the builders up grade appliance package. I didn’t go with the builders selection of refrigerators and purchased separately. We went with Bosch, for that. I have a bosch dishwasher. We redid our cabinets I think 2019 and my fridge went caput out of the blue. Less than a year old. I was really close to swapping to all stainless but had committed to all white cabinets (and eventually walls) with a coppery and bronze tones flecked in dark countertops. Stainless just didn't do it for me with that set up. I love the finishes on the Cafe appliances and tbh if my fridge weren't only 4 years old I'd swap that too for the matching matte white and bronze fridge and microwave too (cuz it's over the range and why not?). I had looked at the fridge but it was out of stock due to timing so I went with a regulae GE. We swapped out dishwashers when I redid the cabinets and counters so I got a Bosch then for that. Had I known what I know now about appliances and induction I would have redone them all. Another real plus for induction that no-one talks about is it greatly reduces your need for venting. (vs gas, I mean) But a real downside for induction is if you happen to have a wok or something other than flat - only the flat part of your pots and pans that are contacting the induction surface are getting hot. And of course their power drops off like crazy with distance. I've been playing with my single burner and really am a fan. Been reading that flat bottom carbon steel woks work well on induction. But I don't wok cook often. Fortunately all my pots are already good with induction. One my husband bought does not lol but we can figure it out.
