What a week! Finishing off with Boma breakfast tomorrow with that guy who lives near SFB in Florida! The pecan rolls hopefully are there. Bill and I will then hit Epcot to grab some Food & Wine booklets for the kids so they can plan their attack for our September family gathering at Kidani. The SFB Guy might continue to hide in the AC. It's steamy down here! Happy Friday everyone! Steamy, indeed. Air conditioning was the correct option. What a week! Still bummed that Party for the Senses appears not to be happening this year. We booked a November trip based on past dates to try and catch this, but looks like we're SOL.
Cheers.
Yep, a damn shame. I'd think they made quite a bit off it, too, so not sure why it wasn't worthy of returning. What a week! It's steamy down here! Happy Friday everyone! Very nice! I was not able to sort a time to see an AC loving guy in FL this week. Bah humbug. Glad you enjoyed, Karl! Wow, first time not at a monorail resort, amazing Great pictures! Hi Peeps 😊 Brian ya it is amazing when you think about it, But we just really liked being on the monorail.….. I went to training camp, and Anthony Richardson just looked like he barely flip his wrist and he thru a 60 yard in the air TD pass. I know he has a lot to learn, but it will be fun to watch him progress …… How’s the Jets training camp going from your perspective ? Here’s the pictures of Poly Towers from last April, Has anyone have any updates or pictures of how the Poly Towers construction is coming along ? Hi Karl. Think Richardson could turn out to be quite good for you guys. Jets looking okay thus far. Of course, we shall see... Pecan rolls were fabulous minus the pecans. The heat is not fabulous however. Happy Saturday! Hell no it ain't. Just stormed but a round of Food & Wine likely isn't happening in this heat. Ugh. A wonderful breakfast together as always.

It was a wonderful breakfast indeed. Good company and good food helps the Monday thru Fridays.
Finding the misprinted festival booklets was difficult but we finally found some. Hopefully the next proof reader will do better. The clouds helped with the heat…not really but less sun beating on us was good. Epcot was really busy. I’m sure opening weekend is though. Still no trams and people were parked a longgggg way out.
The price was up and the cup size down at the ice cream place in France. Not shocked. I can’t spell it so won’t even try. Too tired and still cooling off!
A car was on fire on southbound I-75. That’s the third car I’ve seen on fire since we’ve moved here 2.5 years ago. All the traffic was in the other direction today which was nice.
Twas a wonderful Saturday.

Brian…the booth lines were insanely long. Less heat and not opening weekend will be better.

The car fire was on southbound I-75 two miles south of exit 350 which is one of the Ocala exits.

Who remembers when CDs came in the "longbox" format? Yes, that's right, I bought that one at Disney for real. In the store outside the Indy show at HS. Now it's some sort of bar? Back in the day it actually had Indy stuff; I also bought the hat there.

The Poly: The last time I saw her was in late June from the MK. She looked about the same. It’s hard to see changes from MK now that the big parts are done if that makes sense. I am looking forward to seeing how they will dress her up as right now it looks like Orlando Health has put up a new building to deal with the anxiety of the high prices at Disney.
I did notice some new stuff around the building it’s taking a quarter century to build at Epcot. So tired of Walcot. I would think they could get the outside stuff done so the walls could come down and then work on the inside, but that would make too much sense I suppose. It looks like some sort of lighting around a stage perhaps in that area…I’m not 100% sure though. The monofail probably gives a better view of it. We did walk to France in the cloud cover yesterday and I didn’t notice the “stuff” in the lagoon so I am hoping that stays the norm since that was one of my biggest dislikes of Trash-monious. I haven’t been overly impressed with much new that’s come out in recent years as far as shows. I do hope they found some of the older fireworks creativity for the new show and I wonder if it’s 100 Years specific too since it’s coming out with that celebration. Time will tell. I think many agree that the SSE lights are a huge win from the 50th and one of the interesting pieces is the ability to change it. I know fireworks are much harder to change, but being able to add or subtract for the different seasons would be nice or perhaps have a different show for the seasons like MK does for the parties. I’m not sure the different parks people even talk to each other because Disney is so large. I always find it interesting when I wear this one shirt over at Epcot (or the other parks) that I purchased from the vault collection and at the other parks CMs always comment on it. At MK, they do not. It’s like the other parks have never seen it before and I know CMs are super busy and rarely get out to the other parks. I wonder if the fireworks team for Epcot even have viewed HEA or Wishes back in the day.

So, I would think they won't build a fireworks show on that. I love the lights on SSE, too. It is the best thing they did for the 50th. I could be happy if they just lengthened Epcot Forever. I do miss the kites. I thought they were cool. but, I can see why they are hard to use with the wind. I just hope they learned something from the Harmonious fiasco and do something cool. that fits at Epcot.

I liked the Jungle Book show before Rivers of Light! I am hoping for the best!

I liked the kites at AK, too (we are talking about AK, right?) hee hee
Although I would say that my favorite thing they have done recently as far as "shows" goes, and this stems from covid, is when they put a character or two in a boat and motor around that lagoon at AK. Wife loved waving to Chip and Dale while we were eating at Flame Tree, and I tell her constantly about the time Pocahontas did the "call me" sign to me while we were waving at her. (Not true, btw)

Here's a polarizing statement: I save my bacon fat and use it fry eggs, or sometimes put it in recipes.
I find that if that say that to people who cook in a professional setting they react positively; if I say it to people that cook at home they react negatively. Unless they mention that their grandma used to do that or something.
Now the bacon fat can have a strong flavor and it smokes easily so it's not right for everything. But when I make bacon it's in the oven, and I have learned to control the temperature enough so that the fat, when I pour it out, comes out fairly white (like newspaper maybe) as opposed to the cardboard or dark brown color you would get when frying bacon in a pan. So this means it's not burned already once before I even get around to using it. Then I pour it into a nice glass jar.
Anyways I have found that when frying eggs outside on the Coleman gasoline-fired stove, I can get so much hotter, faster, without hotspots, than I ever could with the electric - and the result is so much better and I can't wait until the kitchen is done and the new gas stove is up and running. I get excited thinking about all the things I've wanted to do over the years that the electric could just never give me enough heat for.
Anyways, back to the bacon fat - I finished my last egg this morning and there was still some grease in the pan, and inspired by something I saw in a cooking video I put a slice of bread right in the pan, to "fry" it instead of running it through the toaster. After that I put a second in and rubbed it all around to clean the pan, then fried that. Waa-woo-wee-wah! So different than toast. Yum

I’ll NEVER go back to an electric stove, EVER! Gas is so much better all the way around. Here’s hoping your kitchen gets done soon!
