Hi Peeps We (Sharon & I) had a good time on our first stay at SSR. Only stayed 3 days, first day dinner at O’hana (excellent as always) , 2 nd day Hollywood Studios 👍and Great Weather 🌞 , 3 rd day swim (SSR) and dinner at Disney Springs (Art Smith Homecoming 👍) …. We really liked SSR resort and rooms, But missed the monorail resorts (we always stayed there for past 35 + years) Here’s updated pix on construction of the Poly DVC Tower. It’s coming along Nicely Glad you enjoyed, Karl! Wow, first time not at a monorail resort, that’s amazing. I don't want to do a trip report or anything, but got back from a 5-night trip at AKL last week. Had a great time. I heard on a Disney podcast recently that went through the "top 10 walks" at WDW and they mentioned the path between POR and POFQ. I had never been to either resort, so we decided to go over there for an afternoon/evening. I must say, it was beautiful. What a gorgeous place, and such a pleasant walk. Went to the Scat Cat Club after and watched a live jazz band while we had some Mickey beignets.
Never been to AKL, and it was about what I expected. Nice place, but ultimately not for me. I'm not an animal person and the decor/style of the place just wasn't my aesthetic. Glad I went, though, as I want to experience all of the DVC resorts eventually. Here are the ones I have left: - CCV - BCV - VGF - RIV - VB - HHI - New Disneyland Tower When at AKL, I stayed at Jambo House. Since the place didn't appeal to me, I probably won't make a point of going to Kidani Village even though it's technically separate from Jambo from a DVC perspective. I know this is inconsistent with keeping CCV on my list even though I've already been to BRV, but hey, I *really* like WL so I'm fine with that lol. Great pictures! Got to do that walk myself sometime. I listen to that podcast, too.

Welcome back - So did you hear the kids crying not wanting to leave. My first Disney cruise ended with kids crying not wanting to leave, and my husband and I wanted to join them being we felt the same.

For all you Sci Fi Dine-In Theater fans, you'll recognize the work of the subject of this Chicago Tribune story: Bert I. Gordon of Kenosha made terrible movies for 60 years. He’s an inspiration.By Christopher Borrelli Chicago Tribune Bert I. Gordon, who died earlier this spring at 100, was the absolute worst filmmaker who ever lived. Or so some might argue. You’ve heard Ed Wood was the worst. Or Roger Corman. Or maybe Michael Bay. But Gordon was not lousy for one or two decades. He was a terrible filmmaker for about 60 years, and when he got around to writing his memoir in 2010 (“The Amazing Colossal Worlds of Mr. B.I.G.: An Autobiographical Journey”), it was the absolute worst book ever written by a filmmaker. To borrow from the lurid posters for his movies, his talent, such as it was, screamed: Amazing! Towering! Beyond Description! Just not in a good way. You could say I’m unkind. But there’s poetry to this life: Bert I. Gordon was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, seven years after Orson Welles was born in Kenosha. That’s the universe pranking us. Or God laughing.

My first Disney cruise ended with kids crying not wanting to leave, and my husband and I wanted to join them being we felt the same. It went by so fast!! We loved it. Making my own coffee tomorrow will be a drag. The vast majority of the kids were VERY tired this morning. The moon was magnificent! 366 days….

My first trip as an adult-age person with my wife, we stayed at POR so I have a soft spot for it. And Scat Cat club is pretty cool. And the scenery is great. We try to go visit once in a while from our home at OKW. Same for us though it was our honeymoon (our first trip as adults and our first trip together) and it was still Dixie Landings back then. Stayed there again 2 years later on a family trip and it's been OKW ever since. Stayed in the Magnolia Bend area and loved the look and quiet feel. We also love the boat to (now) Disney Springs which is one of the many reasons we love OKW. We still have our Dixie Landings refillable mugs which are probably collectibles now given the name change.

Wow those mugs are way cool! I like the older shape, too.

Wow do I remember those mugs - was so disappointed when I was told that I could not use and then they started to charge for a new one on every trip. Then the sensor, and so on and so on.

The moderate we liked the most was CBR (the less expensive version of the Polynesian - LOL). Our only kids week long vacation was at Dixie Landings. The kids loved it. We had a 'water view' which meant the pool was right out our door. Every day I'd walk out for coffee and get lost - something I do on any winding walkways. DH kept saying that I had to be repeating but to me it all looked the same. As long as I got there and back to the room I was good but after a week it was nice to return home.

I believe now CBR is more with the skyliner there, but I'm not 100% sure.

And yes, CBR runs about $15 more PN that French Quarter or Riverside (I assume that is what you meant). Coronado is the moderate 'deal' currently, which I'm guessing is transportation driven.

Of course we had a free upgrade from Pop so that was extra beautiful. We added a night before our dvc stay in Nov 2020 and not a lot was open yet. That lobby is amazing! Amazing at Christmas at night.
