Duo Studio looks like bathroom sink is outside of the bathroom space, or am I seeing that wrong. If so, not a fan. Didn't they try something like that with the BLT studios at first? And wound up remodeling those rooms? 2 bedroom penthouse layout looks nice with that huge balcony.

And wound up remodeling those rooms? 2 bedroom penthouse layout looks nice with that huge balcony. You are not wrong what I see too. I think it's that way because they are limited in space and that one sink is both for the bathroom as well as the kitchenette area? When I saw the two bedroom penthouse plan, I decided that it was definitely not for us. But that's likely because we already have a lot of space when we go because we tend to get one and two bedrooms for the three of us. It felt like a little more wasted space than what we would need. The brochure my, now new guide, gave me was really kind of helpful with some of the information they had.

Two bathrooms in the 1-bedroom is perfect!
Doubtful that I will ever being staying in a Duo Room. Its just not my cup of tea. Plus, as a non-resort owner, they will never be available at the 7 month booking window. Heck, I bet because of walkers, they will barely be available at the 11 month window.
The Penthouse is not really that special. DVC just need to create a "faux" special room to charge and ridiculous amount of points.

We will more than likely swap down to 1 bedrooms only after this trip there. We did 4 nights at Riviera in a 1 bedroom as a real test of size for us, and the only thing we all said & agreed on was we are fine size wise in 1 bedrooms but we need 2 bathrooms. Waiting for the bathroom annoyed us.
The 2 bedroom penthouses were a let down to be true. Sure top floor views but seriously not enough for us. An overgrown patio is not worth it. Nor is the mushed up living room. I realized it's not that much bigger than the regular indoors, just lots more outdoors. Point for point the bungalows are far more special and worth it to me. We even won't do those often.
I don't see us using the duo ever. Maybe a solo trip but I don't often plan those far out enough. Maybe if I go alone for my 50th. Even then I'd probably just go for a regular studio.
I'd like to try a studio over spring break, but my kid nixed it for 2 showers. So in the longhouses we stay. Unless I can convince him otherwise. The talk on other places is how they feel in the future the longhouse studios will be more desirable by many. I can see that.
Very glad to have points there. Just deciding if I want really want or need 25-30 more. If I go for more than 30, resale will be the way to go and I'll wait on it. Prices at 40 direct make it so that some 50 point resales are better. Though pricing now IMO is still high in some cases. So if I decide I need points, I'll weigh it all. Life changes will be happening here in just under 2 years. OKW contract is my iffy to keep. It may or may not be helpful to keep. So lots of little pondering. We're fine with the total of our 4 contracts now knowing every 3rd year we'll be using CCV points.

Yeah, I'm not seeing the real draw for the 2-bedroom penthouse over the regular 2-bedroom. Sure, there's a nice balcony, but it is also at the expense of some of the interior space as the balcony definitely seems to decrease the size of the common areas. I suppose if you really, really love large balconies enough to cough up the extra points.

So they might be similar to a regular 2 bedroom I'd rather cough up for massive deck space on the water than this.

Yeah but you are talking about getting rid of it! lol I know I know. Most people don't dig it, and it's not the new exciting Poly. This I get.

Yeah but you are talking about getting rid of it! lol I know I know. Most people don't dig it, and it's not the new exciting Poly. This I get. I've owned that OKW contract for over 20 years now. The maintenance fees are bugging me. I've used that contract to stay in every single resort on property at some point. Even one stay at GC in DLR. If I sell OKW it's for MFs and nothing else. Outside of GVs (due to how hard they can be to book at 7 month) I can always use other points to stay at OKW. I love the 20+ years of stays, I just don't love the MFs. It also ends in less than 18 years. My kid will be 34. I'll be just about to turn 65. I have to plan for beyond - I doubt DVCs mistake with the quitclaim will ever work in my favor. I have a loooong history with Disney compared to some. My mom is why I love Disney as I do. She brought me for my first trip over 42 years ago. I have a strong connection to Polynesian because of her from that very first trip. My fondness for Ft. Wilderness is because of it too. We have regularly been going since too. OKW opened just after her last trip and not long before she got sick - and to be fair it likely can never have as strong of a connection for me because of history. It will always be Polynesian - shiny new or not. Always has been. My spouse and kid don't have the same history and connections to resorts that I do. That's why we own CCV as well - that's the resort they love most outside of my Polynesian obsession. Shiny and new have little meaning to them as well. Just where they feel at home.

Even one stay at GC in DLR. In an interesting turn of irony (not the right word) I have used GC points to stay at OKW! You are not wrong about MFs for OKW. We bought in 2014 and they were 5.83, just about the lowest ones. Times have changed.

Now with everyone pointing out how they achieved the bigger balcony, I had to take another look. Ugh. Still love a bigger balcony, we hang out a lot, but not a fan of how it was achieved. We wouldn't be spending the points needed anyways, I am sure it will be insane. Like others mentioned, I think I would rather splurge on a bungelow. I had been floating the idea of an add-on, but think we will be just fine with what we have. It makes me happy to be able to use our cheap SSR points for some of these newer point hog resorts.
