Definitely looking forward to visiting, with some random stays I'm sure. For what it's worth I'd hold off to see what the views are actually like. I'm sure they'll be amazing from some areas but unfortunately less so from others. Much like BLT, how rooms are classified will be key. That's our struggle with booking - we don't know what is really good or not. What's worth it, what's not. I think we're opting not standard but no idea. I kinda want facing towards the lagoon even if standard or preferred, but I don't know what is what. We'll have to make a decision on the 15th though. We might opt for theme park as a one time big deal trip since I have more points than I needed, so blow it while I have it You'll be welcome to check out the view if we do (it'll be our June trip, I think we'll arrive on a Saturday morning - I'll know next week when I book our trip out).

Thanks! Looking forward to it as well. First-time splurge makes sense... says the guy who used (won't say wasted) a boatload of points on a BLT Grand Villa my first time there. With just my former boss and a former coworker joining me. Oy vey.

That was worth it but not regularly. I'd rather go more often really. A penthouse for us seems weird so it will just be 3 of us in a regular 2 bedroom. But if a 4th does want to join (kid's girlfriend of almost 2 years) we'd have space. Maybe worth it for theme park because we all know the views are going to rock there.

We splurge for our Christmas trips, if we have the points. Its really nice having everyone in one unit. We can decorate, hang out and the kids can be kids.

Apologies if this has been covered (I have been traveling and tried scrolling through the thread but may have missed this), on the 15th, do you need to call to book reservations at PT or can you do so on the website? If you need to call initially, when will booking be back online?
Thanks,

Hope it's online because I have appointments at 8:45 and 9:20 that day. I had fogotten that was the norm. Dang it.

Thanks! I received an email form my guide a week or so ago and wrote her back about Poly info. She did not know and said she would email us when she knew...NO email kinda annoying since this all came out almost a week ago. That is her job does she not want sales?

I know if my guide didn't move in, he'd be all over it for me lol not all guides are great tbh. In my 20 years I've had a number of stinkers I did look up and cabin booking was online and via phone so a departure from the past. Hope it remains.

That’s why I am planning Xmas Eve week with 2 gk’s to decorate new Cabins and explore the newness before it’s not new anymore.
Would love to get on property for Poly Island as a WDW on site guest but worry it will be restricted to actual Poly Resort guests ! What do you think? I know the original Grand California required security line guests only entry from Downtown Disney entrance for the first few days of Grand Opening … so Poly could “ restrict “
oops thought I was replying to Tom& Robin…

If you're really concerned, book a meal at one of the restaurants on site. I don't think the security that they will have at the Polynesian will be any different than other Walt Disney World resorts. What happens at DLR is never the same. I know that there are more security concerns at Downtown Disney there too. Getting into the Island Tower might be something totally different though. As of right now there is no plan for a staffed lobby. This can change at any moment. But as of right now there are no plans for that. It may be key card access only like BLT was for a while.

Poly might be online since it is an add-on to an existing resort? VDH was definitely call in for at least a few weeks before it went online. When I started with DVC (late 2012), it was already online reservations. I feel for the folks that had to deal with calling in every time in the distant past.

Cabins were not. Might be improvement in tech. I've been DVC for over 20 years now. I do not miss having to call in all the time. PVB originally was call in. Hope this time it won't or I'm screwed.

I am unsure if I'm going to really add on or not again, but I did find out that the minimum buy-in for cash purchases will be 25 points. I would assume the minimum financed amount will be 50 points.

Duo studio will likely be hard to book like at Riviera but looks like enough room for a short trip.
