Definitely seeing a lot of lack of love for VGF. We're going to enjoy our stay one way or another, even if we never come back. We love the lobby of the main building enough to make that part of the enjoyment. Cheers. We have only stayed at the VGF DVC once - but surprisingly loved it. Just a little different focus, but nice to enjoy the area.

I love seeing this diverse set of opinions. I'm glad Disney has as many options as they do. What one values another may not. Definitely seeing a lot of lack of love for VGF. I know my husband is one and done there but it wasn't out of total hate. We just like being next door more. My kid and I actually really like the QS there and I like chilling in the lobby. It's not awful there to me at all, and we do (obviously) try to experience all rooms. Interestingly enough, I said one and done to SSR way before it was even done being built. After the refurb I changed my mind and tried it again. We like it more than before. Not our top but I'd be happy to be there.

That being said, I would stay at any of them but BWV because you never know when your assigned room might be 1/2 mile from the lobby. We walk about 10 miles a day. We couldn't care less how far the room is from the lobby. Besides, there are many doors for entry, so we can always use a different one. We get, and love, the BW view rooms.
Cheers.
You might feel differently as you age and if you ever develop back problems...just sayin' Those rooms at the very end of the hall are tough at the end of a busy park day.

Really is amusing seeing the varying opinions. OKW studios definitely my least favorite but I’ll still stay there anytime.

I say probably because we haven’t tried it yet. But we’ll try it once the tower comes out and we can get a 1-bedroom. right now the only resort we’re not likely to try to book is BLT! DH liked that least. Again, he’d rather stay at VGF. But we have many more resorts to try yet. im also glad there are so many choices. And whichever resort one goes to the most, I’m sure that starts to feel like home. I love RR for that reason. You walk in the lobby with the blast of AC and you’re home. It’s not as crazy in that lobby as it is in others..

My family is mixed on RIV. They liked the resort but not the location or need to take skyline. We do think the resort is beautiful. But i have not ventured to their community hall. The other that was a one amd done was poly, but that will change with the new tower.

I don't think we'll ever stay at BWV in July or August again. The heat the first week of August last year made those walks to EPCOT miserable as short as they were. We actually missed the air conditioning on the buses.

I would say I have 2 one and done, Rivera and BLT. RR was nice and looked pretty but the skyliner was an issue almost every time we rode it so the transportation wasn't great for us. We prefer a large open lobby and didn't get that Welcome Home sense when we were there. We wanted to at least like it but by the next morning we all agreed it was shinny and new but left a lot missing for the vibe we wanted. Which is funny because we found RR to feel stuffy compared to VGF which is our primary home resort.
BLT was just rough. The location cannot be beat but we are not contemporary style people. The yellows, browns and dated looking rooms really dragged it down for us. I am hopefully with the next refurb things will get better but right now I would stay at OKW and SSR first and I strongly dislike the condo feel of those resorts.

We actually missed the air conditioning on the buses. This is why I walk to Epcot and take the boat back to BWV. We also walk to DHS; back to BWV depends on timing (we often seem to have bad timing, walking out of the park as the boat is departing) and how long the line is at the dock.

Least favorites that we have visited once and not come back are Saratoga and Animal Kingdom (actually own 240 points there due to buying without fully understanding DVC and guide telling us everything is available at 7 months (not true)). We prefer to stay in areas walkable to parks, favorites are BCV, BWV (mine) and GF (wife). BLT is growing on us. I'm sure once Grand Kids arrive there will be renewed interest in AK. AK is great for park-less vacations and it is where we also own the most points. From '09-'11 what the guide told you was true. We didn't even use our AK points at AK for our first 3 membership years. We did bite the bullet and purchase BC points after we were 'locked out' by '12. Then we purchased more in '18. We love that location. Unfortunately for us we drifting into the park-less area ourselves. Our two younger (40 & 36) kids are not park goers. The 36y will buy a 1 day ticket for her SO but they enjoy the resort amenities and the Springs more than the parks. Our eldest likes the parks and enjoys the walk-ability of BLT but her 'go to' would be the Poly. She likes being all in one room cause it reminds her of all our family Disney vacations crammed in a moderate room. LOL

We would stay anywhere but OKW is definitely last on the list. Last time we stayed in a studio and heard the toddler next door screaming his head off for much of our stay. Poly is not a fave but will consider the new tower when completed.

Still have a couple of resorts left to try. Our “ one and done” never even got a “ one”. My husband absolutely hates Beach Club. Hates the smell, hates the theme pool along with the DVC pool. Hates the views ( like there are none).

I really have enjoyed reading people's thoughts on different resorts. Particularly since most were not super negative or defensive over their favorite.
We did make the goal to stay at every Walt Disney World DVC Resort and I'm glad we did. There are some we probably would be a little more hesitant to go back to in the future. Funny thing is as we were deciding where to stay this summer, we kept talking about things we wanted as a whole. The family we travel with, they have some different types of physical issues and disabilities than even what our group deals with. So we were looking for a place that had a great Community Hall for the hot days when we needed to do things but have it all indoors. We kept tossing out places like AKL, BWV, and I kept forgetting BLT. There is absolutely nothing wrong with BLT, but apparently I don't like it enough that I kept forgetting to toss it in as a decent option for community hall, food, location, ease to get around to other places etc. Our friends will be at Copper Creek I believe, unless another good deal pops up, so really BLT would have been easy for afternoon and evening transportation between, but we just decided we wanted something slightly different I guess. In that case, I'm very sure it has to do with the theming and the grounds being very concrete. Otherwise it's not a bad location.
