I have my favorite resorts, but none that I would never stay at again. I do have my least favorite rooms at resorts that I would scream bloody murder if they tried to put me there again. Looking at you, Beach Club Villas Room 466. It was awful! Ha....For us, it was Wilderness Lodge, first floor, second room from the exit door....room 1502! To be fair, it was not so much the room or location, but the guests in room 1500 who let their wild animals (I mean kids) play unsupervised in the hall for hours. Mine was totally the location, it was attached to an elevator shaft. You could clearly hear the machinery of the elevator behind the master bedroom wall, and could clearly hear the dings from the elevator in the living room.

The only one and done for me would be the Poly. For me, the points/night aren't worth it. I'd rather stay somewhere else for fewer points per night.
We've not stayed at Riviera, Saratoga, WL or BLT because they'd likely be one and done. Riviera, WL and Saratoga are too isolated for me. I think they'd be perfect for a staycation with minimal park time. Like the Poly, BLT is a points/night issue for me.
Kidani is love/hate. Love the atmosphere, hate the isolation.

We do OKW exclusively...love the vibe, OKW is the vacation and then we also go to Disney Parks which is a nice thing to do during our vacation.
Since this is a thread about "what is your one-and-done" I would say that when we walk through GF and RR to shop or sightsee, we get an uncomfortable vibe, it just isn't for us. Especially that GF, I feel weird every time I set foot in that place.

While I certainly have favorite resorts, there are none that I would not book again if there was limited availability. I have not done GF on the DVC side but hope to do both studio types. I’ve also only had one night at BLT and didn’t love it, but would like to have a longer stay to give it more of a chance to like it.

This is the beauty of DVC. There are so many different resorts and themes that everyone should have a place they like. While I like some resorts more than others (and had a great recent stay at Riviera), I would never be looking to pay cash over using my points at my least favorite resort (which is currently Old Key West). OKW is so far our least favorite as well. The "Motel" feel I just cannot get past. It reminded me of staying in Coronado Springs.

The newest DVC at VGF (the converted building) is one and done for us. Walls paper thin, hallway light coming through the door (easily an inch and a half spacing at the bottom) and there is just nothing cozy about it. Just not my cup of tea. We have a stay at VGF coming up in May. We did it because, well, it's Grand Floridian. I have a feeling that this will be one and done.
Our other one and done is AKV. We stayed years back for the Sunrise Safari,. and no need to stay again.
In the end, anything other than BCV or BWV is a one (or none) and done for us.
Cheers.

For us it would be any DVC that you need to take a bus to get to a park. Big pluses for any resort with balconies with views except the BLT, not a big fan of the modern decor.

Wait, there are resorts other than OKW? How did we miss that, lol. We rented points to stay OKW back in 2002 and have not stayed anywhere else since on WDW property (yet). Our few trips prior to that (including our honeymoon) were spent at Dixie Landings. I believe preferences may be at least partially influenced by one's home geography. Living in western NY which is often cloudy (at least starting every Friday) on top of the cold, snowy winters, OKW says "tropical, warm, relaxing vacation that's nothing like home" to us so maybe that's why we fell in love with it. 2002 was also our older son's first WDW trip as a toddler so there are cherished memories from that. Love the resort music and a place that oozes "relax, don't worry" after a crazy day in the parks. I'm not sure someone from south FL or someplace that already has that relaxing, tropical vibe would find OKW as appealing. On the flip side, I grew up about a ½ hour from Saratoga Springs and have absolutely no desire whatsoever to ever stay at that resort...the theme just does not appeal. Neither of us have any desire to stay at VGF either, it's just definitely not our aesthetic. We're both looking forward to checking out the other monorail resorts (PVB, BLT) and maybe AKV, BRV, and CCV at some point but, as new owners, we're currently busy using all of our points on large family vacations and the GV and 2BRs at OKW are perfect use of them for those. It will likely be a few years before the novelty of ownership and big family vacations dies down but we do plan to eventually check out other DVC resorts and love hearing what others think of them.

Its been no secret that are one and done resort is the Poly. This will probably change with the introduction of the new Tower, which I will love and hate at the same time. Love that it will offer great views, its own amenities, MK access, good quick service and offer more than a studio.....bad because it just doesn't fit into the Poly theming. Shocked that you did not like the community hall at Riviera. Its one of the few that our grandsons really like. I only have one dislike about the Riviera Resort and that the main pool is too shallow, not enough deeper water for a 6 footer like me. Teens like more things like foosball or air hockey or pool. We're fans of BWV and SSR quite a bit. WL offers those outside. Kidani and BLT weren't bad either for us. When it was all about crafts and such we'd be okay. I just expected more I guess. The room itself was small too. I totally get PVB. Outside of bungalow and doing a connected set of studios we've kept our more recent PVB stays to just the kid and I for a few days. With 2 showers we were fine. I am definitely looking forward to the tower. Looking at add ons now. I could even see us selling off OKW eventually.

Kid is meh on it. Low on his list for sure. I am glad that our stay did have the walkway between Polynesian and GF open. Made some things so much better. I'm not sure I'd be as thrilled if the walkway were closed.

We almost stayed at Riviera for our spring break trip a couple of weeks ago, but swapped the dates, and only SSR was available for those days. That for sure is a done for me. Unless I'm not going to any parks,or there is nothing else available, no desire to stay at SSR again. Ditto OKW. but then again, if I was only doing a resort stay, maybe. It was such a hassle getting around, just felt like so much time every day was spent on those buses, and traveling to/from parks. Kids hated it. I do want to eventually get to all of them and have several left to try. Sorry RIviera wasn't all that great.

It's so interesting how everyone's opinions vary. We love Riviera. We've only stayed there twice, but DH chose to stay 10 days at Riv this summer, rather than doing a split between BLT & Riv. We've never stayed in the summer, though, so it will be interesting to see if there is a difference. He's a 'hotel guy', so he prefers resorts that have a more hotel feel and are self-contained in one building. I know for sure he would say his one-and-done is OKW. He doesn't like exterior doors or how it is spread out (he probably wouldn't like SSR either). For me, it's probably Poly (might change with the new tower!). I just didn't like the layout of the room. We've not yet stayed at WL or GF.

Our "one and done" is the GF. We didn't enjoy the Victorian "King of France" feel to the place although we do enjoy visiting the main hotel during our stays at other resorts. We have never stayed at BLT and probably never will. The building feels like an office building.

We've been DVC owners for 23 years, one and done were Wilderness Lodge and Poly. However, both resorts have been completely rehabbed since I said that, so I'd try them both again. My "Four times and done" is Kidani. I've never gotten any of my room requests, they gave my luggage to the wrong room once, and this last time was the worst as far as my room requests go, nowhere near what I'd asked for. I asked for a room on the side near Jambo, near the Timon elevator. My room was way out past the pool near the end of the Pembe savannah. I can't believe that was the closest they had to Jambo!
