I know we've all had our frustrations with Disney IT, so I thought I'd post about a very positive experience.
Since I am the family planner, I created profiles for my whole family in MDE years ago. Flash forward to recently and DW needed to create her own MDE account. The problem was that even though I linked her new account to my MDE account, her Magic Bands were stuck on the old profile I created for her. One call to IT (14-min hold time) and they were able to merge her two profiles, thus moving the Magic Bands to her new account. It only took the cast member about 4-5 minutes to do the merge and verify that everything merged properly.

Our experiences have generally been quite positive. Occasional hiccups, but generally very consistent good service and experience. Glad to hear yours.
Cheers.

Two years ago we went to WDW and my son had two profiles. We had Genie+ for all our party, but it was a nightmare for him. A Cast member at the Wilderness Lodge called IT and they were supposed to have merged the profiles, but the next day when in the park we encountered problems with his Genie+. That occurred everyday during our trip and everyday we had to go to Guest Services to have it "supposedly" corrected. I would hate to tell you how many times they told me and assured me that it was corrected. All in all because of the problems it made for a very stressful experience for all of us.
Hope your experience is better.

Hoping that the "fix" worked. Like John2247's experience, we have had issues "fixed" only to find when we went to use, the problem was still there. Other times, we have had no issues afterwards.
May the odds be ever in your favor!

Now you have me a bit concerned. I guess I will find out in February if it really worked or not. From the MDE system, it looks like it did. Her old profile is gone and her new one is properly linked showing the Magic Bands under that new profile. I suppose we'll see the first time she tries to enter a park with a Magic Band.

This is something that has caused countless problems for people for aeons, since MDE was first a “thing”.
However there is now a way that you can sort this yourself. You need the cooperation of the other person and the email address they used to create their account.
Let’s say I have a DS, Joey, and I I have managed his profile up until now.
Joey has now created his own MDE account and wants his magic bands, AP / ticket and park reservations transferred over to him.
I sign in to MDE and go into his profile.
I then send Joey an email inviting him to be one of my family and friends, using the email address he used to create his own, new, account.
Joey then accepts the invite.
And both of us click on “share all plans” At this point any magic bands, tickets etc associated with him will move over to his account and be under his control.
edited with the share all plans step.

I think involving IT is good if one has time if you are unsure. I have had no issues but I know others who did.

I ended up with two profiles for DW and everything stayed with the original profile.

I think that’s needed to move things across.

I think that’s needed to move things across. I definitely did “share all plans” and she was able to see all the reservations on her side. I was able to manually swap her new profile into the dining reservations, but I couldn’t swap her new profile into the hotel reservation (in addition to the Magic Band issue). When IT merged her profiles, her new profile also automatically swapped into the hotel reservation too.

I have done the exact same thing multiple times and had different outcomes. Only once have I had to call Disney IT but it's not just you. Disney IT will be what they are and sometimes it's great and sometimes it's hmmmm not the best?
