I just made reservations for Takumi Tei in February. I am curious if anyone has eaten there recently and could share their experience? I've searched online reviews from regular people (I don't trust bloggers and other professional review sites as I know they usually at least get a free meal to review the place), but I couldn't find anything recent. At $250pp for the tasting menu, it is at the price of Michelin starred restaurants in the L.A. area. If you have eaten there recently, was it worth it to you?

Nope, but interested in what you think. I have eaten there for a few special event dinners and it was pretty good.

Members from the Club have eaten there and generally have given the restaurant rave reviews. Personally, we are not fans of the Prix Fixe menu and have not been back since it reopened. Judging by the frequent availability, it appears that many feel the same way. I am hoping they return to their original menu and pricing next year. I hate to see this restaurant go away. For the record, we have not returned to Cali Grill either since it went to a Prix Fixe menu. We did dine at Monsieur Paul and thought the meal was fantastic! Currently, Narcoossees is our go to Fine Dining WDW restaurant.

Loved Cali Grill, but won't go back for the same reason.
Since we are staying at VGF in May, Narcoossee's is a great option. We've not been since like 2009, the one and only time we made the DDP mistake.
Cheers.

Thanks for the input, Tom. If done right, I'm a big fan of Prix Fixe tasting menus. I would assume Takumi Tei is more of a tasting menu so one gets multiple small bites vs. the choose one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert (which I usually don't want). After hearing Tom's report from Club members and most of the Google reviews, DW and I are leaning towards giving it a try. If we do, I will report back at the end of February.

Look at the menu online before and decide if you will like it. I was a fan of the fixed price option before COVID, but the new fixed price only menu and much higher price does not appeal to me.

I went last month. I am a foodie that has been fortunate enough to eat at amazing restaurants all over the world. The meal we had was SPECTACULAR. The food quality of each course was at or near Michelin star quality. Service was incredibly attentive. The atmosphere was soooo relaxing so much so that walking out I felt like I had spent a couple hours at a spa. To be honest reentering the park was a bit jarring to that mood.
Enjoy! You’re in for a real treat.
Ps: we did the sake pairing and loved it.

My wife and I are foodies and, like you, have eaten at some pretty incredible places. Having said that, we've also had our share of experiences where we were fairly disappointed with what was received for the price point. I'm an alcohol lightweight, so maximum one drink for me. LOL.

There were also some nice little touches to the overall service experience the moment you arrive inside and sprinkled throughout the meal that I appreciated, but I don’t want to spoil anything.
召し上がれ / Meshiagare!
