I like the plan....
When we go back to Hawaii in a few years, we plan on breaking the travel down to more manageable times. Twelve hour flights are just too much.

Sounds good to me... Depending on the family, of course.

We will do 3 days at DL then do a week in Kauai. We did Oahu/Maui in 2022. My kids are begging to go back to Hawaii.

We did it in one day on our honeymoon many years ago and it was rough then. PHL to SFO, 2-3 hour layover, then SFO to HNL to KOA. From the time we woke up to get to PHL to the time we got to our resort (Hilton Waikoloa) it was over 20 hours. Yuck. Doing the flights over two days will allow us to see some of San Diego, where we haven't been since 1992, and returning via PHX we can see family and I can get an In-n-Out fix.

For us, Hawaii is short (5ish hours), but Europe is the long trip. Still, we like the same-day thing when possible. LAX-LHR is 10-11 hours, but much better than breaking it up for us.
Cheers.
