Ok friends. I haven’t done this in a couple of years and wanted to make sure I don’t mess it up. We just got approved for 2 SW credit cards. A personal one gets a bonus of 75,000 points once we spend $3,000. A business card gets a bonus of 80,000 points once we spend $5,000. The closing date looks to be the end of December. 👎🏻
If I spend $2,000 on the personal and $4,000 on the business in December on the statement which closes in December, I won’t hit the minimums for the bonuses in December 2023. However, that will go towards the minimum requirements for the bonus points which gives you 3 months to hit those minimum spends. If I then spend the remaining $1,000 on the business and the personal in January, I will hit the bonuses in January and get that companion pass for the remainder of 2024 and all of 2025.
Am I going to do this correctly? I don’t want to hit the minimums too early and screw myself out of the 2025 companion pass which is why I can’t hit the minimums by the December closing date. I also don’t want to forego putting purchases for Christmas on the new cards which add up to a lot of money but want to make sure I don’t hit those minimums.

You are doing it correctly! Your spend now is fine as long as you hit the exact required amount after 1/1.
