I can actually see a market for these, but I feel like they will appeal more to renters than owners. For those families who have consistently tried to stuff 5-6 people into a studio, these will be ideal. However, I’m thinking that they will be priced more like a 1BR than a studio. In order to make them appealing to us, they would need a dedicated bedroom with a king size bed, and maybe a sleeper or Murphy in the living room. They would also need a dedicated transportation system, restaurant, and pool. And they would have to be < a 1BR at WL or AKL. Bring all that to the table, and I would consider trying them out. Definitely transportation! I'd also want them more like SSR or OKW or less. If no transportation improvement, less for sure. Even then boating to MK will still be a huge negative. All that, plus a second bathroom - even just a toilet and sink. I think a 2nd shower is more appealing. Part of why kid and I do PVB studios together most is because of the 2 showers. Extra toilets at home is nice but the shower means more on vacation.

One thing that they might do, is have different configurations of cabins. Do a master bedroom cabin with a sleeper sofa in the living room for parties of 4 or less, a queen and bunk beds like they have now, a Murphy in the living room and 4 bunk beds in the bedroom… That would appeal to a wider consumer base, maybe…

I am still a big fat "NO" on this resort.
I lean towards a NO but the idea of pet friendly adds a nice touch. I would never buy as DH is also a big No, but I would like to try it with my sister.

DVC has always touted their resorts are Deluxe.....These are not that.

FW cabins have long been considered a form of DVC lite or a gateway drug to DVC. Maybe it was only a matter of time after Reflections stalled until someone got the idea to change FW cabins from an intro to the comforts of home at Disney to DVC.
Reasons why it might work: - Individual cabins give a greater sense of privacy and convenience than any other current DVC option for those guests driving their own vehicles on vacation. - MK area resort expansion will be popular. - FW has a dinner show, unique recreational offerings (horses, carriages, fishing, boating, archery, etc), beach, fireworks view, best outdoor movie set up - FW is pet friendly.
Reasons why it might not work: - FW almost demands a personal vehicle and/or golf cart. While I can think of a few families I've met who flew in to stay at FW cabins, those have been few and far between over the years. - Pushback from guests who prefer FW as it is/was. There is perhaps a larger % of FW fans unhappy with the announcement than DVC fans. - Camping is typically social. DVC is decidedly less social, apart from niche groups like MO. While the cabins give good individual privacy for families, doing almost anything at FW involves interacting with other guests. I'm not certain this is a positive for most DVC families.
If we were not doing Standing Pines, I'd already be signing up for more points for a DVC FW option. Given the success of Camp Margaritaville in Auburndale and the purportedly extremely high occupancy rates at FW in recent years, Disney might just be ahead of the curve by creating a truly unique upscale camping + theme world experience with DVC cabins at the Fort.

I think my DW would be a hard no but I am a maybe (to at least staying - no points). I do see the appeal for some folks. Restrictions will make resale (in my opinion) be lower. Committing to 50 years in a cabin seems a stretch for most. I like the option to try it out.
