Jimmy Buffet passed on Friday, Sept. 1. He is a music phenomenon and I hope many of you had a chance to see him as he was wonderful and quirky.
Even a minor Disney tie as his original Margaritaville location is in (Old) Key West. Was just there for a beer in June.
Cheers.

Every 5:00p, I’ll be thinking of Jimmy up there in Paradise. Rest in peace Jimmy. Eat a cheeseburger for me.

Interestingly, I was at a funeral this morning and somebody said to me, "did you hear Jimmy Buffet passed?" I had not.
I have a love affair with OKW and I consider "Margaritaville" to be the unofficial song of OKW. Coming home (to OKW) on a packed bus after one of the DVC Moonlight parties at Magic Kingdom, seemingly the entire bus was singing along when the song came on the radio.
He seemed vibrant and full of energy when I last saw him in an interview about a year ago, and Forbes magazine recently had an interview with him. AARP magazine had one about a year ago, too. It seemed like he was still bringing new things, so it's a shame.

The older I get, the more things like this "hit" me. You never know when your time will come. I think Jimmy would agree with me when I say "carpe diem".
I do have a funny story about Jimmy. A co-worker of mine used to live in Nashville and was in the same "club" as Jimmy (don't know which one) and his locker was a couple down from Jimmy's. He said he's probably one of the few people to see Jimmy Buffett buck naked changing clothes in front of his locker after a shower.

Jimmy Buffett is one of my brother's favorites. He was disappointed when the Myrtle Beach show was cancelled recently.
It is sad to lose another performer and personality. RIP indeed.

Jimmy Buffet was more than a musician, he was a life style coach. Fins up Jimmy.

I was at a small party last night at a friend's house. I had an aloha shirt from the '98 Buffet tour replete with parrots and island themes that I had won at a charity auction. I wore that shirt. At 5PM, I asked for everyone's attention and proposed a toast to Jimmy.
I'd like to say that, come Monday, it'll be alright. But I'll still be missing Jimmy Buffet. He was a friend to the New Orleans Jazz Fest and we were lucky enough to see him there several times in recent years.
Cheers.
