Per the electronic search function, the last MagicOwners appearance of the word "Ahsoka" was in Jedimom3's nice report of a lightsaber purchase on 6/12/23. Because the Disney+ series Ahsoka began Tuesday, 8/22, with release of Episodes1 and 2, I thought a thread might be of interest. I am avoiding plot spoilers here, but the links in this post contain them. Vous etes prévenu.... Vis-a-vis conversations in another thread on Disney stock prices, Forbes ran an essay yesterday claiming " Ahsoka is now the lead of the entire Disney Star Wars unverse." I am not persuaded of that -- "no ... not yet", as Obi-Wan said concerning premature rumors of his death in Episode IV -- but the fact a major financial publication is advancing that hypothesis is noteworthy. Here is the link: www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2023/08/24/ahsoka-is-now-the-lead-of-the-entire-disney-star-wars-universe/?sh=69ab209f5ff5 . I enjoyed Episode 2 of Ahsoka more than the first one. In another Kathleen Kennedy signature move, we now find ourselves with all three protagonists seen to date being women. There are some glacially slow interchanges between two of them that I suspect are intended to be angsty, but they stand in stark contrast to the exhilarating pace of early Rebels episodes. Based on evidence so far, the characters' performances are also unlikely to compete with dramatic performances by the Una, La'an, and Christine Chapel characters in Season 2 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, should Emmy nominators be willing to consider science fiction actors seriously. For those familiar with the backstories from The Clone Wars and Rebels, this link notes some significant "retcon" activity. The second listed change strikes me as by far the most important (SPOILERS, including for the earlier series): thedirect.com/article/ahsoka-sabine-wren-star-wars-rebels-changes . For those who have not watched all of The Clone Wars, Rebels (I missed most of that), and The Mandalorian, this link provides a syllabus of homework viewing to help understand and appreciate the new series. (SPOILERS, including for the earlier series) winteriscoming.net/2023/08/25/rebels-the-clone-wars-and-more-every-episode-you-should-watch-for-ahsoka/ . Finally, information on strong (and doubtless welcome) initial viewership numbers may be found here (SPOILERS if you choose "Ahsoka Plot Summary" in sidebar): televisionstats.com/s/ahsoka . I am looking forward hopefully to Episode 3 this coming Tuesday.

Very brief thread drift - your mention of 'Forbes' reminds me that in the editor's opening statements at the front of the June/July magazine issue, he touted that the U.S. had a five-year lead on any silicon chip technologies versus what was coming out of China; his gist was that we had little to worry about. I reminded him (speaking to his picture in the magazine, I doubt he heard me) of the old saying about resting on one's laurels. Then he had another point in the same short mini-article that I, again, had to remind him of the old saying. I did lose some respect for a person with such shortsighted vision.
Nothing to do with your actual topic! I just couldn't believe that the head of a major business publication would say something like that.

It's bad to say as a legit SW fan but I'm not interested. Disney is killing SW and creating fatigue on my end. I'll maybe eventually watch later but after so many flops, I'm not interested.

thanks for starting a thread here for the series. I started the one on the 'other' site when the trailer came out. I have been SOOOOOOO beyond excited for this series. When they made that big announcement at D23 of all the upcoming SW series, Andor and Ahsoka were the ones we were most looking forward to. (funny, Bad Batch was the one I was least excited for, and I have completely loved all of it, such a great series.) My DD's favorite character is Ahsoka, and she's in my top 5. I have tried to learn from previous disappointments (Book of Boba Fetl....) to try and temper my expectations, not expect too much, but I couldn't help myself. I was not disappointed w Ahsoka. I am a HUGE Filoni fan. He's not perfect. he does sometimes like a little too much cute sh$$ in his SW (but so did Lucas....Ewoks. BLAH, but I think he has continued Lucas's vision, and I really appreciate all of his attention to detail, knowledge of SW lore, and seeming love for it. Anyway, I'll just copy/paste what I put on the other place: (but I was NOT at all disappointed in Ahsoka, can't wait for more, wonderful storytelling so far in this series. )
Watched Tuesday night, and have re-watched first episode. There are so many details I missed, and want to see again. Wow! what great storytelling. Just like starting a great arc from Clone Wars, or to me, very reminiscent of the pace/ story building from the prequels. Seeing everything in live action was awesome ! Lothal looked incredible. Sabine was great in live action. I'm still adjusting to both Ahsoka and Hera's portrayals, especially Hera. I just don't think this actress is capturing her essence/voice etc from Rebels, but it didn't take away from the story. I"ll get used to it. Ahsoka is still very sullen, quiet, introspective, but I know there's good reason for it. I very much hope she'll have some more light hearted moments as the series goes on. Looking forward to more in depth explanation of hers and Sabine's training. and looking very forward to finding out more about Baylon, his story, where he's been since Order 66. All of the lightsaber battles were fabulous. The actions sequences very well done.I know all series can't be as good as Andor. I do think it lacks a certain level of tension/drama, like a moment that just drew us in. Although the last scene of the 1st episode was pretty tense...This is more like Mandalorian in the balance of tension, characters, cuteness, etc. Very overall Star Wars feel to it, which I expected with Filoni. I'm trying to imagine what it would be like to watch this w/o having seen Rebels. I think one would be missing so much. I also recommend watching the Dinsey + Clone Wars/Rebels episodes that feature Ahsoka, to get ready. We did that just for refresher, and it was so fun revisiting them.

We’re here for all things starwars. We just watched the first 2 episodes. I admit to not clicking on this thread because I didn't want the spoilers!
Jedimom, I havent seen all of the clone wars, and I haven’t watched rebels. I probably am missing stuff. I don’t know why we didn’t watch them as they came out. I think it was billed as just a kids series? Now it’s more content then I can get through. DH watched them in the gym.
DH is very hopeful for the storyline this show is purportedly setting up.

All I can say is, lightsabres don't kill anymore. headbangeranger Spoilers!!!! Loved Rebels and I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen so far. This made no sense though. Thought it was kind of a cheap cliffhanger for Filoni to go with but I’ve got hope for the show. And anyone watching that has been on the Halcyon? Ashoka’s ship puts me right back there! It even has the bunk beds.

This post sets the stage with a tip of the hat to Quote Investigator,quoteinvestigator.com/2018/07/31/believe-eyes/#:~:text=Dear%20Quote%20Investigator%3A%20According%20to,been%20attributed%20to%20Groucho%20Marx. for this Chico Marx and Margaret DuMont dialogue from Duck Soup (1933): Teasdale: Your Excellency, I thought you left. Chicolini: Oh no. I no leave. Teasdale: But I saw you with my own eyes. Chicolini: Well, who ya gonna believe me or your own eyes? ========== The following linked article is interesting in that it provides (not wholly consistent) Ahsoka viewership numbers from Disney and a third-party analytics source, Samba. The article explains the methodology differences between those two sources and also Nielsen, which won't report for a few weeks. The article notes that, like Disney, "...Netflix also reports streaming hours watched globally on a title." The direct quotations from Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, and Cole Strain, Samba TV’s VP Measurement Products, are noteworthy in different ways, as is the Samba household count drop (from 1.2 M to 956 K) from the first to the second Ahsoka episode, available simultaneously. Even if one doesn't care about Star Wars, the article may be interesting because methodology differences apparently underlie some residual payment issues relevant to the SAG-BAFTRA strike: deadline.com/2023/08/ahsoka-viewership-streaming-1235530030/ .

We are loving it just like we loved Mando, Rogue One, Solo (yes, Solo), and Andor.

Watched the first three episodes yestreday on my flight to WDW. I am a Star Wars fan, but have not watched any of the animated series. So I am sure I am missing that connection. However, I am enjoying the first three episodes and how the story is building. The action sequences are good, the acting is ok but is serviceable for now.

Ok I’m sure it’s just me. But had to start the beginning of episode 1 three times because I couldn’t read the intro words fast enough!! Disney give us old folks a few more minutes to read the intro paragraphs!!!!! I saw only episode one, but I still could use “ one more time” reading the intro information!! I digress.

My jaw is still on the ground from last night's episode...I'm still processing. that was incredible. nothing played out like I expected, and I LOVED it. Filoni is a genius! I can't wait until next week.
