Just saw where new “ Lorcana” game cards were available for purchase and sold out within a couple of hours. It is a Disney game? I think played in Magic Kingdom?

Are you referring to the Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom card game where you held up cards to battle against villains? If so, that's completely different.

But after reading some of the rules from the Polygon website, I’m not sure now if it’s played inside Magic Kingdom. Haven’t read thru everything yet. And I thought Mah Jongg was hard!

I don't know much more than this:
It is *not* related to WDW aside from the fact that it's made by Disney. Not made for use in any parks as far as I know.
It is a card game that has mechanics similar to Magic the Gathering, where people collect different card types, build decks, and battle against each other

I know a little. It’s a card game to compete with both magic the gathering and Pokémon (both owned by wizards of the coast). It’s highly anticipated by people in the know (gamers / Disney folk) and it looks to be a good game. It’s made by ravensburger (sp?) and Disney. A small amount of product and some pre-release stuff was released at gen-con of this year. (The 2nd biggest gaming convention in the world, and the largest in the US). That was a mad house and many people did not get cards. Today was the release to a select retailers, and from what my DH said, the retailers were generally bought out in about 20 minutes or less. The cards are officially released as of September 9th. There should be plenty of availability then. DH has managed to get a few cards from the gen-con release, a friend of his got them, and he picked up 2 decks and a few booster packs today. So after we play I’ll let you know what I think of hte actual game. Unlike Pokémon and MTG, all the cards are available as common cards. The more rare cards are just special rare reprints. I”m not sure exactly what that means, but it could be cards with special foil, or art, or something. So you can play the game w/o spending too much money. But the cards are supposed to be collectible in some way, because that’s one of the things that the kids love about Pokémon. I’m not sure how that will work though However, right now since the product availability is low, cards are going for a HUGE markup. Don’t pay 350% markup. There will be availability September 9th. The game store DH went to, one guy said it was his 3rd store he was at to buy what he could (likely to resell). If I like it, I’ll let you know . We play a lot of games.

We played it! It’s cute. The cards are fun. The absolute first card I looked was an item called a frying pan. (I love tangled…)It’s all Disney themed, the artwork is great, the cards have fun text and the card’s’ abilities all make sense. I totally smoked DH. He should have called a mulligan, all his cards were too high of an ink cost and so he couldn’t get them out.
There are many similarities with Pokémon and magic. A large difference is you don’t have to fight the other person. That might not be a winning strategy, but it’s a strategy. You still have to fight if someone fights you. Whatever the term is.
I was wrong in my previous post. The cards should be available September 1 at all retailers. I was also wrong on another point. There are uncommon and rare cards that are harder to get. Then there’s the enchanted rarity that is an estimated pull rate of 1 in 4 boxes (or a case) of booster packs. (Or 1 in 96 packs). We’ll know more in September.
I would assume, just like in Pokémon, you’ll have to watch young kids when opening packs and trading. If the cards end up worth something, it’s only as a pristine card. And savy traders will absolutely take advantage and be like “here’s 4 50 cent cards for your $50 card.. this happens in Pokémon all the time.
