"Bob Iger is supposed to save Disney. It’s not going according to plan"CNN article
Not a surprise. Too many pieces including trying to create too many new streaming shows and not giving the shows a chance to expand and blossom but a number of "1 and done seasons". Along with how much blood can you squeeze from the parks before your customers call "timeout".

Saw that. Agreed, nothing new but a quite decent summary of where things stand (or at least where we think they stand) at the moment.

Bob Iger needs to go. His plan is stale - buy competition, produce live action remakes, and kill creativity. His time has passed and Disney is in this predicament partly because of him.

Iger will more effectively handle the moron DeSantis than anyone else I can think of. But his stewardship of the company is not going well. He should stick around to defuse the moron and then Disney may need to move on.
Cheers.

Iger is losing it totally. He is resurrecting Chapek plans and getting into Internet Gambling to save ESPN. He refuses to accept there is a pricing problem at domestic parks.
Here is the reality that I see right now:
- Of the 6 streaming services we pay for, Disney+ and HULU are fourth and fifth in usage. Only Peacock is watched less in our house. Also, two free streaming services are watched more then Disney+. - Resale prices of DVC are falling like a rock and will be soon less then they were in 2012. - We have had our points with 2 different broker for over 3 months for rent and 0 have been rented. Historically, we have never taken more then 3 weeks to rent out points. - Discounts for WDW have moved from 25-30% to 30-35%. I expect to see free dining offers for '24 in the coming months. - Pent up COVID Travel demand is over! It was a nice ride while it lasted. Unfortunately for Disney, they throttled park attendance too much to really benefit from that.
I don't trust any existing Disney management to bring back the magic. They are going to have to look outside of Disney to fix this. If then does not happen, Disney will be chopped up and sold off in pieces. More IP or over-exploiting existing IP is not the solution.

IMO diversification is sinking Disney. ABC, ESPN, Movie industry and streaming are all going downhill. Makes me wonder if Dis' only solid $-maker is their parks.

I have been on an Iger bashing spree for many months now. He is not the savior, most of these current problems are result of his from the first time he was in charge. Management is screwed up with non-competent members. Iger and Chapek over the last 6 years has chased off many of their best people. You can see the results of that purge now....so much dysfunction, no leadership, no creativity and a loss of identity.....plus, they are forgetting who and what their audience and clients are. Iger needs to go, the sooner the board realizes their mistake, the better Disney will be in the long run.

The theme parks and ESPN are the most consistent revenue makers. The movie division use to be reliable, but that went out the window in 2018.

As Tom and I have discussed, I still think one of the worst decisions Iger made was Chapek over Staggs. One wonders with both Staggs and Mayer suddenly serving as consultants again if one of them may actually end up as the heir. Of course, we shall see... And hopefully if it's Mayer he stays longer than he did at TikTok or we'll have a whole new round of turmoil.
Also as I've mentioned before, if not for all those Iger acquisitions I do believe Disney would already be owned by another corporation. So while he may have already overstayed his second stint in charge, his first did indeed prove successful. Unfortunately as Tom mentioned with no surefire blockbusters in the movie pipeline post-2019, by his tenure's end some of that foundation was already falling apart...
