We listen to many Disney podcasts. This being one. I think it was our first back in the day. We started to see others start to crop up after we found it. The past 12 months we tailed this one off. It got silly how Pete was showing some obnoxiousness with owning 1000s of points and things like that. ("Just buy more points") It seems these points may be on the business card. But he does own a business so brushed it off. We did stop listening due to the content and well... 'Pete'. Then we got wind of this. So I had to get caught up. I watched some shows we skipped. Watching them again with this info you can see little hints to the bigger issue. I really hope the man gets what he deserves (Legally). There are good people in the company that need to move on. They may need to rebrand. Get the name changed and start a new clean slate.
GKTW is important to us. I really hope they get unscathed by this.

Disboard member since March 10, 2006. I joined there immediately after Robin and I 40th birthday cruise on RCCL. We had a post cruise WDW stay at the Swan & Dolphin, this being only our second trip to WDW. We were walking from the Swan Hotel, over to Epcot and passed the DVC sales model on the Boardwalk. We stopped to check it out and 2 hours later had a contract for SSR. When I got home a few days later, first thing I did was start researching DVC and found the Disboards. My account is still active there. I have been suspended many times, but somehow never got banned.....even during the 2008 purge. I had many arguments with Webmaster Doc in those early years on the Dis. I found MouseOwners when Greenban, whom I really respected and loved his posts got banned. I did a little searching and found that he had landed there and quickly joined. Those early MO days were slow, but a lot of fun. Good old webmaster doc. what an ass. im guessing he got into it with Pete at some point bc webmaster dick used to be on the dvc podcast shows, but then he suddenly was absent. He also hasn’t posted on the disboards in a while. So he must’ve become persona non-grata. Ah I remember Webmaster Doc and the 20,000 plus posters who kissed his minions who kissed his a.. I think years ago when DVC said no more decorating for Christmas outside. DVC was much smaller then. I loved coming ‘home’ to okw and seeing the balconies decorated. That the following year, we would go the first week of December. I packed lights and decorated our balconies. Well when DVC said no more. Many didn’t stop. But when there was a post that someone said oh I was there and there was a balcony fully decorated. I remember the minions all saying oh well if webmaster Doc was there and saw that…. Excuse me? What exactly was he going to do? It was a ridiculous over there. Not all good comes from growing and expanding. |

I wonder why his lawyers advised “Rehab “ I am guessing he is busy writing a book about the history of Web Community and it will eventually be a Movie ! No worries about finances… It is History and “Characters” can be good or bad or both in the World Wide Web … Not surprising at all. My client has entered rehab, for mental health and addiction issues. Addiction is a disease. Because of his addiction he was unaware of what he was doing. His behavior, he’s not responsible for…. Blah, blah it’s done all the time. He is now seeking treatment for his illness to get the help he needs. To get the charges that he can be charged with to be lessened. It’s a typical attorney client ploy. |

How many celebrities have entered rehab after legal, addictive , criminal issues and jail time possibly to become even more wealthy celebrities … Nowadays it is good to be bad .
And the beginnings of this wide world web story is better than a soap opera .

According to my profile on Disboards, I have been a member since 2017 and I have just a few posts. The majority of the time on Disboards, has been on the Universal forum, just catching up before any trips to Universal Orlando. Since I accepted early retirement in May, I have had a little more time and looked at Disboards more frequently but very rarely post unless it is a non-controversial topic such as where to rent a scooter. Heard too many stories on MouseOwners and now MagicOwners about the heavy-handed moderation. Not that I would particularly care if I ran afoul of the moderators and they wanted to ban me. Never look at Disney podcasts; too easy to go down a rabbit hole and waste even more time on the Internet. After reading all this, I feel very bad for the employees harassed and far worse that Pete did. Agree that "getting the help needed" is lawyer speak for "it is not my client's fault" defense or at least, trying to minimize damage. Real life soap opera. Who will make a "movie of the week" or book or "lecture circuit". Maybe Disney can create the movie?  Who could play who? In Oppenheimer, I was very impressed with the actors. RDJ came out as so slimy when his agenda came out near the end of the movie. |

Whatever you do, you did not ask about refillable mugs, pool hopping, etc.. They would be all over you. I joined Disboards in the early 2000's. I learned a lot about DVC there. My DH says it took a perfect stranger to explain why DVC was a good idea. But, when the great ban of 2008? came, a lot people I enjoyed reading their posts were gone. Then someone asked where Greenban went and someone replied. Do a search. that post did not last long. But, that is how I found MouseOwners. And I never went back. |

Wow! I joined Disboards back in 2009 because I needed a member referral for a VGC discount. However I wasn’t active on it and somehow stumbled upon MO, which I found easier to use. I have enjoyed a lot of content on the DIS YouTube channels, even some of Pete’s curmudgeonly moments despite his annoying tendency to always repeat himself. I got a sense from more recent turnover and Pete’s absence that things have been off but even before that it seemed pretty clear that he screws over his employees and business partners. A few years ago he launched a Moving to the Magic real estate community and agency. It then appeared that Pete got his own Realtor license then forced his partner out. I knew he was a jerk but these additional allegations are horrid. He had some good content creators so I hope they will be okay. Same here. I always thought his antics were an over the top caricature, and I found them humorous. that stopped for me when Pete Scheidle left the dvc podcast suddenly and without fanfare. I sent Scheidle a message and found out that PW went psycho on him and then banned him from disboards. At that point my world view was shattered and I never looked at him the same way. I also figured he was on shaky financial ground given that when the pandemic started, it was obvious he had obligations he wasn’t going to be able to meet. For the amount of cash flow that business generated, he SHOULD have been able to weather the storm for a few months. But it was clear to me that his lavish lifestyle was more than he could really afford. |

As I discovered Disney forums I found Disboards but, to me, the forum was so large, negative and derogatory that I stayed away. Luckily I found DVCNews. The information there is very organized, although the forum is very small. At one point I almost completely abandoned forums. I think some posters from the former DVCnews forum have because I never 'see' them. It was a relief when MO's became less argumentative. Then MO's announced ending (thank goodness for Magicowners!) so popped over to Dis. Considering what is going on, I surprisingly found a changed Dis to a positive supportive trend so all of 'this' is a real surprise. It is good to see the forum and the travel company are being seperated from this person, who I don't know and am glad I haven't ever.

I joined Disboards in 1999 and might not have bought DVC if not for that board. But I was never a part of the community and never banned (even though I often posted on the Transportation board where posters were warned that pixie dust doesn’t exist). Once I found MouseOwners, I rarely went back. My heart goes out to all who were directly impacted by PW’s — let’s be honest and call it what it was — apparent criminal behavior.

I joined the DIS in early 1999. I had been a regular on the Usenet group, rec.arts.disney.parks and I was looking for something else. I was on pregnancy bedrest so I had a lot of time on my hands . The DIS was a small, friendly place and Pete was a regular poster. My first inkling that Pete was a jerk was when he posted his hateful rant on Gay Days in 2005. Then, WM Snoopy was banned. Then, bangate. You can't tell me that a WM banning and bangate didn't all go down without Pete's input and approval. I listened to the podcasts and watched the YouTube podcasts every once in a while and I never got the Pete rant love. He just seemed like a jerk to me every time he went on a rant. I'm still on the DIS and I enjoy the relationships I've made there. Maybe without Pete's heavy hand on the helm it will become a better place. There seems to be a change already. There was also something with either Doc and/or Pete sneaking in and reading our private messages. @helenabear might remember more. They definitely read "private" messages over on the DIS. I once received points for recommending Magical Vacations Travel to someone via PM. At the time, the agency booked large blocks at Disney resorts and rented them out at a great discount. For instance, I once paid less for a week at CSR than I would have paid with an AP discount for the All Stars. The name of the travel agency is censored on the DIS because it's a no-no to mention any TA other than Dreams, so I did a work around to give the person the name of the agency. About a day later, *boom* I get points for a "filter violation". I had told the poster that I was going to send them a PM on a thread so someone (WMDoc, I think) went and read my PMs to catch me. |

I would not give him the satisfaction. I've joked that my regret in life is that I was never in a band, with drug issues, so I could have a VH-1 Behind The Scenes documentary done about me. These Netflix documentaries just don't have the same cache as Vh-1 Behind The Scenes. |
