I agree. I'm not interested in Elemental at all. Looks terrible. Who knows, it might surprise me, but I'm not holding my breath. We both found it interesting. But maybe that's the scientist in us looking at it from the physical standpoint
Cheers.
There are cuteness moments in the previews, the story line comes across as "been there, done that....but in a new package" feel.

We watch movies a lot -- we subscribe to AMC's A-list, so we can see up to 3 movies per week in the theaters. While we don't go quite that often, it's rare if we don't go see a movie in the theater at least once in a week.

I love AMC Disney Springs … can’t believe they closed the AMC Downtown Disney … The free popcorn bucket refill is a good deal.
I just remembered the Walt Museum Attraction inside HollyWood Studios always has a great trailer for their newest Release . Hope it’s still showing . And then I will have to decide about seeing the movie at AMC . I prefer to see a movie for the Opening Weekend on the big screen deluxe screen . Ariel kicked Mario off . What is the nextSummer Blockbuster to replace The Little Mermaid ?

That was Spiderman.......The Little Mermaid only lasted a week as the top movie.
Transformers opened this weekend and will surely push spiderman to 2nd and Little Mermaid to 3rd at the Box Office.
The Flash is coming out June 16th Elemental is coning out June 23rd.
Its gonna be hard for The Little Mermaid to reach that break even point for Disney. The Movie has no legs and not much of an international audience.

Sure it does...partway through. Unless they've changed the story substantially from the animated version...
But in all seriousness. it has surpassed breakeven at this point.
Cheers.

Standard calculation for breakeven for a Movie is production cost multiplied by 2.2-2.5 to cover additional costs such as marketing. This means that the movie needs to make $550 million (min) to breakeven. The drop of 57% from week 1 to week 2 is horrendous, especially for a movie being so heavily pushed by Disney. As one of my favorite Disney rides say.....
Dr. Seeker. “They're not gonna make it! They're not gonna make it!”

Love the Seeker comment! Gotta keep it Disney!
That quote above and "Definitely Not our dino" are family staples for us. Though, we tend to drop the word definitely, and just say "not our dino".

For us, it's "these are not the droids we're looking for." And, while this is Disney now, my use of that long predates the acquisition. But I definitely see the catchiness of "not our dino."
Cheers.

Today I went to Hollywood Studios specifically to see the Little Mermaid Extended Preview Trailer inside the Walt’s Dream Attraction . It is approximately 8 minutes long and the music and detail of film is very enjoyable. I am almost sorry for canceling my AMC Open Weekend Theatre Tickets. Good thing i have big TV hanging on the wall to watch on Disney+ . The extended trailer ends June 15th and will return to the film about Walt Disney and his dream .
Also the Open Weekend Box Office looked impressive only because Disney released it World Wide (except China…) normally Disney releases in USA first before world release.
Also stumbled into the just opened today … Indiana Jones “Den of Indiana Jones Destiny “ Small bar with only 4 or 5 alcoholic drinks served . Next to IJ Stage Show and the Commissary and Prime Time .
The Adventuress Margarita…$13.50 Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat Ale L’Atlantique Green Tea and the Weathered Fedora …$14.50
AND the Frozen Stage Show has added so many jokes…I laughed at the jokes and watching the Storytellers antics . Do not think this is not worth the wait plus the theatre gets freezing cold to set the theme for Frozen .

I learned a lot about myself yesterday…and more. I woke up and said to myself I am going to see the Little Mermaid , I guess , to grab a parking spot for the 4:00 Sunset Walk Car Show on Saturdays and also the Osceola Sheriff Police Dept presentation of Teen Driver Challenge … Sunset Walk MargaritaVille Resort also has live local concerts and lots of restaurants and shops. Huge July 4 th Party and NYE fireworks party … etc. The biggest and cleanest and friendliest Game Time Arcade with a separate restaurant bar / party area and the bar window seating opens to all the outdoor festivities ! If you loved Atari PONG …you need to go ! This is the location that Gloria Stevavon (?) moved her restaurant to went she left Disney Springs . Plus visit the showroom models for the new Embassy Suites Vacation Club about to Open . Anyway the Sheriffs helicopter landed to start the Car Show and the Teen Driver Challenge .
I arrived very early for Parking Spot and to purchase a ticket . The first showing was sponsored by the Studio Movie Grille Theatre and they have special screenings for Families with sensory challenge children and adults. I purchased a ticket in the row behind the wheelchair seating center seat …And then discovered all the families got free seating and free popcorn …and a great Welcome from the organization and the theatre management for all to enjoy the show and the lights and volume are adjusted for all to enjoy . Okay I am the person that can not believe somebody forgot to turn off their cellphone , etc etc… And what do you mean the lights are slightly still on and lower Volume in A Disney movie…? Haha Enjoyed a half hour of trailers … including Disney Wish …Disney Haunted Mansion… White Bird … Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem…BARBIE …Teenage Kraken from. DreamWorks …Indiana Jones Dial of Destiny … Disney Pixar Elemental…June 16th…plus some I forgot … I think somebody has created a New Evil Princess Movie already .Probably Universal . No popcorn … So I discovered it is fun to watch a movie after all surrounded by families that have special needs and they seem to need the cellphone and the movie experience at the same time and they will act out with nothing that has anything to do with the movie including jumoing up and down in front of their seats and crying babies and wheelchairs/ scooters beep beep beeping and who was the most disruptive … Me…because I had to get up 3 times to go to the bathroom because I forgot to go before the movie started and had too much coffee at that Flower Garden Bakery Sunset Walk opens at 7:00 a.m. everyday ! And with the previews and length of Mermaid movie We’re talking 3 hours ! Haha Anyway I was happy to learn about LIFE from a different perspective . And I loved every second of Little Mermaid and holding back tears So many times . It is amazing and actually a very interesting storyline . I want to see it again and also waiting for it to stream too! Please do not believe the propaganda that is attacking Disney . We all need Disney and we all have a little and a lot to learn and forget . Have a great Disney day today !

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed it and was totally entertained, which is all I require out of a movie--I don't need to pick it apart to enjoy it. Melissa McCarthy was fabulous as Ursula, but Sebastian was my favorite character.
