Hi all,
Just some random thoughts/things about our April Trip (4/23 to 4/29)
SSR:
We got the room ready text around 3:30. That worked out fine with us since we were visiting relatives in Lake Mary.
We had a great studio at the Grandstand. First floor, end of the building and right around the corner from the ice machine. I had requested Paddock, but this was really nice. We enjoyed watching the golfers and wildlife. I had a turkey walk up really close to me as I was sitting on the patio.
We also had good luck with the buses all week.
We like Saratoga a lot and are thinking of adding on points there.
Epcot:
The F&G festival is great as always. It’s my favorite festival. I enjoy the flowers, topiaries and the food booths. Honey Beestro is my favorite.
The Stargate is gone!!!! And 2 of the taco shells!!
It made my heart happy to see Epcot Forever again. It’s not Illuminations ROE but it’s so much better than Harmonious. They are not running the kites/ ski boats yet. I asked a CM but they didn’t know if they were waiting until the rest of Harmonious is gone. I hope they bring them back, they were very cool.
I got to ride Guardians twice. We did the virtual queue. I won’t pay for the ILL. It is a really cool ride. And this trip I took my nausea medicine, which helped a lot. I usually get a little nauseous towards the end of the ride.
We did the Spike the Bee scavenger hunt. It’s always fun. And I got a cute little Figment cup.
Extended Hours Epcot:
It started to rain just as Epcot Forever finished on Monday (extended hours). We headed to Remy and walked right on. That was a first. We have never walked on that ride. Since there was no line, we got right back on. We then headed to the Rose and Crown for a snack and an adult beverage. After that it was off to Soarin’ and again walked right on. By then it was almost 11pm, so we headed out.
Steakhouse 71:
This was our third time at this restaurant. It does not disappoint. The food is great and our server was excellent. We all had the 6oz filet. It was really good. DH got the chocolate cake for dessert. It was huge and yummy.
Fantasmic:
We did the Fantasmic dining package. Had a great lunch at 50’s PrimeTime Cafe. It actually worked out really well. You get an entree and an appetizer or dessert. DH got the chicken pot pie with onion rings. We shared the onion rings. And I also got the chicken pot pie with the lemon meringue pie. And we shared the lemon meringue pie. It was all yummy.
The reserved seats are really nice. Right in the middle. It was a great view and the show is really good.
Weather:
We had a lot of rain this trip. Almost every day and some were downpours. We had left our rain jackets in the room one day and this very nice family gave us their extra ponchos since they were leaving that day. We were very thankful, since we would have gotten soaked. We made sure we had our jackets with us every day after that.
One night the Epcot fireworks got canceled. I am assuming it was the rain. We waited until 9:30 and then they canceled.
Festival of the Lion King:
It’s nice things are slowly getting back to normal. They are teaching the hand jive again AND they are bringing the kids in to parade at the end. That was nice to see.
Crowds:
It was very nice. The popular rides had waits but not horrible. Overall it was really nice. We like going this time of year. It warm but not hot, hot.
