What happens to the people who work on the roads. the firemen, all the people who worked for the RCID when DeSantis and his people take over? For example, what about Smokey the fireman? Will he automatically just change bosses, but other than that, no other change in his job? Is he financially protected so that Smokey's pay will be the same. and hopefully all his benefits? So will he no longer work for Disney? I wonder if RCID got any park-related perks, discounts that they may no longer get. In all this arguing I've heard no mention of what's going to happen to good ole' Smokey-is he shaking in his fireman's boots, or is he pretty much OK?

In theory, they all still have jobs, just working for CFTOD not RCID. At Wednesday’s CFTOD Board meeting, there was a resolution to look for a new District Administrator, which mean the person holding that job at RCID is no longer working for CFTOD. DeSantis has said he thinks the fire fighters should get a raise. There was also a resolution that would protect employees from termination if such employee refused to wear a face mask or get a COVID vaccination. However, “This provision [relating to face masks] does not apply to, and is not meant to circumscribe the use of safety equipment required as part of the occupational, safety, training, and educational requirements of fire fighters, other emergency responders, personal protection for health care providers, or other District personnel.” So fire fighters can be made to wear breathing apparatus and paramedics (if deemed to be health care providers) can be made to face mask for personal protection.”

As to another part of Simbasmom’s question, I don’t think that RCID employees got any benefits or perks from Disney. The RCID ethics policy prohibits accepting a gift with a value of more than $75 and we all know that won’t get you a free theme park ticket these days. www.rcid.org/document/rcid-ethics-policy/ It is possible that CFTOD will adult a more lenient ethics policy.

I believe they are considered contractors by Disney and they get gate passes and discounts as other contractors do. The policy that you site would be for perks outside of the employment agreement. Doing a very quick google search I found this on Glassdoor.com from 2017 Jun 26, 2017 5.0★★★★★ Current firefighter/paramedic in Lake Buena Vista, FL, Florida Walt Disney World general admission for employee and family. Discounts in the parks and discounts on hotel rates. Currently there is the ability to pick between a less expensive high deductible insurance plan with HSA or a more traditional co-pay type policy. The District makes a contribution to the HSA if you choose that option. We do get sick/vacation time, but not a LOT of it, probably related to having regular ADOs? I run into a guy that works for RCID from time to time I'll ask him next time I see him but I have not heard of any changes yet.
