I own VGC and can book anywhere at 7 months except maybe Riviera??? I bought resale VGC. If you bought resale after a certain date, can’t remember it now, you can’t book at any of the new resorts. That means my resale VGC can’t be used at Riviera or probably VDH. That’s ok for me because I bought VGC specifically for VGC, but that stinks if you buy resale now and want to stay at a new resort on those points. You can’t use them on the newest standalone resorts. Am I remembering this correctly? Yes!

I believe it was 2019 when the excrement encountered the air circulation device and all the resale restrictions really hit the booking system. Makes me really happy we have legacy resorts with virtually no restrictions...no cruise for us is all. Also feels like our VGC are like gold.

Not happy with this. Essentially I have to pay an additional $540 in taxes when we do our stay? What does this tax pay for? I get it if this was Las Vegas and the tourist are essentially paying for the Raiders and (coming soon) A's stadiums . . . but what is the City of Anaheim doing extra. They ain't building a new stadium for the Angels. Even with Trout and Ohtani, the team sucks. The Ducks seems to be fine. I don't think Anaheim is affiliated with the Rams, Chargers, Clippers and/or Kings. So, are we essentially paying for Anaheim's City Council's Magic Key Passes for them and their families?

So very true, And barring some miracle Ohtani will quite likely be elsewhere after this year. At least I’ll always have 2002…

If you purchase direct you can book anywhere at 7 months with those points. We bought direct at RR and just cannot use resale points to book there. I can however book RR at 7 months with other direct points.
I wasn't a fan of the restrictions but we fell in love with RR. We use our RR points specifically for RR, which isn't a problem since we enjoy staying there.

I am happy with the 7 month window. RR is nice but my preference is still BC and BW. California can wait!

The cut-off date was in 2019, I don't remember the month. I think it was a mistake for dvc to take the path of restrictions as I am certain it has steered some away from direct or resale ( unless bargain) for those resorts. If resale was offered some form of exchange fee that would make it more palatable

pooh bears mom said: Thinknabout this....you really have to want a LA resort. This is great for CA and West coast buyers but it puts caution to east coasters
I don’t think this is true if you purchase direct. The direct purchaser can stay at any DVC resort. Only a resale buyer is subject to the restrictions. Thus, the effect on the direct purchaser is only a possible (likely?) reduction in price should the original owner sell on the resale market. But that potential price impact would be the same regardless of where the original owner lives.

If resale was offered some form of exchange fee that would make it more palatable Knowing the possibility to sell our memberships has always been a persuader when addonitis hit. To our way of thinking, the restrictions on resale diminishes our memberships. While we plan to hold on to our BC membership until it expires, BLT has always been sitting on the edge of the chopping block. After our next big stay in 2024 and we do our taxes for '23, which will included our points rental, we might scoot BLT under the axe.
