Any speculation about how this will affect current Poly owners? I am assuming now that Poly2 will be a separate association. I wonder if the price of the original will go up or down?

How so? They killed auto club membership with white cards years ago. Yes but the white card holders could at least book at any DVC resort. The resale resort restrictions hurt. We had been interested in the new CA resort, but the restrictions are an automatic no for us. Not sure how often we would use the LA DVC resort and if downsizing that would be the first to go. One of the selling features of DVC was being able to use any or all the resorts. I am curious how well the new resort sells. It will be interesting. Again I was just viewing white card as rhe beginning, not just the resort restriction

Bad to assume it will auto be a different association. It would go against history to do so actually. So the rest is unknown. PVB studios are the best out there IMO but do need point rebalancing that VGF doesn't suffer having all the rooms.

Over time there will be a slow elimination of all resale points booking anywhere but at their home resorts. I can't imagine this ISN'T part of their plan. "Buy those resale points, you can't use them anywhere but the one. Buy direct from us, and you can stay ANYWHERE!" For sure!

I have been waiting to book some nights at VDL when they become available on points to use with my new Magic Key. This info made me realize that I might as well go ahead and book GCV with the points I have there because VDL is unlikely to be cheaper (except for the smaller rooms).

FYI, the points charts are out.
I posted them in the main VDH thread.

I just posted the screen shot. Can you see it now? Yes! I use a magnifying glass! 😂 I zoomed. Too lazy to get out my loupe lol I am curious to see same wording for RR but I'm again being lazy. I see this as less of an issue for DLR than WDW though. Most who buy DLR resorts want it for there. Still feels problematic at WDW and absolutely affected RR sales. In fall of 2022 less than half of RR had sold. Not great for 3 years of sales. And during Covid, there was a crazy amount of extra money being thrown around...

"Buy those resale points, you can't use them anywhere but the one. Buy direct from us, and you can stay ANYWHERE!" I'm sure it is. From a business standpoint, it makes complete sense, even if we don't like it. If the direct product has no differentiation, why should folks pay more for it? This is differentiation.
Cheers.

So let me get this straight....
As a legacy owner...where that cutoff is, I'm not sure, but for most of us we are before that...
At seven months, we can use our SSR points to essentially flood VDH.
As a new purchaser:
If you buy VDH resale you can book at VDH at 11mo. At the seven month mark, you can only book at VDH; everyplace else is off limits. But because of all the legacy points, you will probably be SOL. So you still can put points in the timeshare exchange programs like RCI.
OR
If you buy VDH direct from Disney you can book at VDH at 11mo. When seven months opens up, you can book anyplace in the DVC system. You also can put your points in the timeshare exchange programs like RCI. When it comes time to sell though, you better hope DVD is in a buying mode or you can find a sucker to buy them resale.
Is that how I interpret this?

Is that how I interpret this? Mostly. Realistically though legacy owners will have little chance to book VDH at 7 months, just as it’s almost impossible to do so at VGC. There’s always the off-chance, and some will get lucky, but it won’t be a huge number “flooding” VDH with their points. VDH resale owners will absolutely have to book before 7 months. If they don’t they’ll be SOL. And they might still have to be flexible on dates when booking since they’ll have no other option. And I’m not 100% certain on this but I think VDH resale owners might still be able to put their points into the IL timeshare exchange.

Sounds about right. This is obviously to curb the Resale Market. Me thinks the majority of people who buy this are gonna be West Coast people. It would be interesting to see how many on the East Coast buy into it.

I own VGC and can book anywhere at 7 months except maybe Riviera??? I bought resale VGC. If you bought resale after a certain date, can’t remember it now, you can’t book at any of the new resorts. That means my resale VGC can’t be used at Riviera or probably VDH. That’s ok for me because I bought VGC specifically for VGC, but that stinks if you buy resale now and want to stay at a new resort on those points. You can’t use them on the newest standalone resorts. Am I remembering this correctly?
