One time, I was at a church sale or similar, and saw a pair of running shoes I could wear. They were marked 50 cents. But they were closing so everything was half off, so I paid a quarter. It was the only thing I bought. I wore them for three years, they were my daily shoes. Except for sometimes sandals in the summer. When I retired them, they had holes in the sides and stuff, but I still wore them as "garage shoes" I have a sister in law who still reminds me of my 25-cent shoes But then I go to Disney and buy a couple sweatshirts for $50 apiece. $50 sweatshirts? You must be going to the outlets. Happy Monday. I am so happy to be in Florida! It’s bitter cold in the corn fields of Iowa today. Yesterday while out in the yard here in the Sunshine State, a little black snake went cruising along the grass. I didn’t scream. I don’t like snakes. But, I was so done with being out finishing off the trimming of the shrubs at the back of our house. We never really finished them since Bill needed 9 stitches the last time we worked on them. I need to go to the landscaping place to figure out something different back there. The snake pushed me over the edge.

High of one degree here in southern MN. -9 right now. yay
I saw one of those little black snakes at OKW one time, I thought he was cute, wife screamed and probably scared the bejeezuz out of the poor little guy.
You live in Florida, you are wasting your time with those shrubs - the only correct thing to do is a row of things that look like palm trees, or a row of tiki bird plants aka Bird of Paradise.

$50 sweatshirts? You must be going to the outlets. You got me, I haven't gotten a sweatshirt for a couple years now; they never have any I like! Their merchandise game is pretty weak lately, if you ask me. Last one I got was Feb 2020, there got to be a cold spell and they would roll out these racks of sweatshirts to sell to the people who didn't come prepared. It is a classic hoodie, navy color, with Mickey face and "since 1971" or something like that. I liked it's classic looks.

I'm getting them under control. I have a little palm thing in there, but it was getting choked off. Also, there are some pretty grasses that turn pink in the fall. Fall...lol. There is also a bottle brush bush (say that 10 times fast) that I really like. The rest I can live with, maybe. The pines I'd like to burn, but I might have issues with the house. Then there are 3 ugly bushes that I cut to the ground...they were killing the pretty grasses. I know what I'd like. I just need to find time in retirement to go the landscaping place it's been 2 years. I'm busy.... Palms. Look great. Hate them. Awful. Ask Brian. I'll admire them in the yards of others.

They require a decent amount of upkeep as well. Frost/cold gets them. Mine is brown on the bottom right now and they are exactly soft to the touch either. Some drop limbs. Require trimming. Plastic is good. None is best.

If it requires any effort whatsoever on my part, pave it all. Paint if if you like colors. The end. Palms. Look great. Hate them. Awful. Ask Brian. I'll admire them in the yards of others. lol! So what's the problem with them? I'll admit I have no idea. They hit you every freaking time you enter/exit the car. I'd like to strangle it but I'd end up paying more somehow...

Big change for me coming up. This week is my last week to work. I am retiring on Feb 3 after 28 years at my current job. I am both very excited to have my time to totally be my own and also very anxious to no longer have a steady income from an employer and the loss of my benefits (fully employer paid for all medical, dental, vision, life, LTC, etc. Is it weird to be excited to be able to go to the grocery store and Costco whenever you want and not mostly on weekends? I am most excited to now be able to go to WDW without having to schedule around payroll, end of month, etc. Congratulations on your retirement! So when’s your next trip? Next week perhaps?

Couldn’t find any I liked. The only 50th item I got was a pink tee shirt, because I just didn’t want a hoodie. As usual I bought more at Kennedy Space Centre than Disney.

Bill wants to go to Kennedy Space Center. I should plan for it. Yup, Disney merch ain't all that great. I do like many of their kitchen items though. But, I don't believe I need anymore now.

Last time we went, we flew out of Tampa, and I think we bought more Disney merchandise at the Tampa Airport than we did at Disney.

Retirement had a large impact on my wardrobe. Purple Heart has seen the benefit of most of my work clothes. We reduced to one car because the other car just sat. I tend to walk everywhere and DH likes to go shopping or he says I don't buy anything (I buy what we need and not what we'll eat 'some day' = freezers are full!). In the summer we started taking day trips so the car had some mileage. I will say the one weird part of retirement is doing our taxes.

In the summer we started taking day trips so the car had some mileage. I will say the one weird part of retirement is doing our taxes. I feel this. I organized my work clothes and had the ladies I worked with go through them and donated the rest to a friend who does garage sales for a school in India. I had work clothes and at home clothes and the at home clothes are all Disney. I only own two shirts that are not Disney now. I should give those non Disney ones away since the rule is “if you haven’t used it in a year, you donate it.” DD was moving south so I had her clothes & boots in the mix as well. One of my co-workers was her size. She was thrilled because her hubby is a minister, they have 2 kids and money is tight. I had to convince her to take things, but told her it was all going so take what she wanted. Every once in awhile I’ll get a pic of something someone is wearing that was from me. I’m 4 years out now though so not as often. We also have only one car. With Bill still working sometimes it causes an issue, but rarely and we borrow my parent’s car for a trip to the dentist for Bill. It’s when I go to Disney during the week that causes the problem so when he’s retired that won’t happen. I guess that’s why it’s good to buy used cars from older people
