I have to once again give a shout out to Apple TV. If you are a Sci-Fi fan, this is the channel for you. We just finished our third program and each was great. For All Man Kind, Silo, and Extrapolations immediately had our attention and held it all the way…great writing and acting. Highly recommend.

Funny you should mention that. We bought the original Rudolph around the holidays as it's something we will watch annually using digital credits obtained in this way. So if you "buy" a movie on Amazon Prime, you can watch it whenever you want? Provided you are logged in as you, of course. I typed "buy" in quotes because I am old-school and when I say "buy" I think in terms of "have a hard copy in my house somewhere" or at least "downloaded a digital version onto my computer".

Yes, it is your to play whenever via Prime. Basically, the same as having a copy, but no storage requirement on your part, and better DRM control for access.
Cheers.

Just to be clear, if you subscribe to Amazon Prime, you get access to lots of included content. You can also buy or rent movies/shows not included. If you buy, it is accessible, in theory, forever. If you rent, you have 30 days to watch the rental. Once you start it, you have 48 hours to finish.

I've watched so, so many series lately, I can't even remember most of them, most I found mediocre, even when I went in not expecting much. I like noise in the background all time. A few things I did enjoy The Brothers Sun- somewhat standard martial arts, action series, but acting and most of the story good, pretty enjoyable Michelle Yeoh is great! Slow Horses-season 3. I just wish it was longer, more episodes. felt just a little rushed. This is one of the best overall series we've watched lately> Gary Oldman is SO good in it. Fisk - second season-Funny Australian show, not rip roaring or anything, but characters grow on you. Echo-way different vibe than other Marvel series, and weird storytelling at times, but good. I enjoyed it.
The Golden Hour was good, but frustrating to watch how it unfolds, and very violent terrorist attacks, just to be aware of if you watch, can be upsetting.
Very disappointed by the latest Harlan Coben series on Netflix: Fool Me Once, lots of plot lines that go nowhere, but I will say again, did not at all figure out who did it, so points for that
Have had Seinfeld reruns on a lot lately, That show is so hilarious, and so much a part of my psyche. So often things happen, and the first thing I think of is I remember that from Seinfeld.
DH watched Foundation, cared enough to finish it, but overall, didn't love it. We both enjoyed Silo. He really enjoyed Loki, I didnt, and probably wont' finish it. Can't think of anything else, but I know I've watched more. Love this thread for ideas for series, and seeing what everyone is watching.

DH watched Foundation, cared enough to finish it, but overall, didn't love it. Foundation is an interesting beast. I'm a huge fan of the books, to the point where I have the entire 13-book set, including the other series and the connectors, and re-read the entire set a couple of years back...and may again. We have reduced paper books in favor of kindle, but I have all of these.
The Apple TV+ show is not really Asimov's Foundation. First, the fact that Asimov was an apparent misogynist and had no strong female characters (and few women at all) and they have changed that. I'm OK with that as the gender of the characters doesn't matter to me. Hari Selden can be a woman.
But the story is so vastly different as to not really reflect Asimov's work except in basic concept. It's hard for me to be objective. mrs. brp, who is not as tied to the original formulation as I am, likes it better than I do.
We watched Season i on a free trial. May pay for a month to watch Season 2. May not. To me, it's not actually Foundation, but a different story set in the same universe.
Cheers.

I watched the Jason Isbell documentary (on Max) flying home from WDW on Saturday. It was excellent. It's more about him than his music, but at the same time, there is so much of him in his music that often the two can't be separated. Definitely recommended to anyone who likes music or general human interest stories. It was directed by Sam Jones, who has done a few other excellent music documentaries.

Cheers.

Season 2 of Reacher is on Amazon Prime Video. If you've read the books you'll love this series with Alan Ritchson. He is sooooo much better than Tom Cruise was in the two movies. I've read that they are already filming Season 3. We really like this. We did say though that yesterday’s episode didn’t move the story along much though. Well this past episode sure moved things along. I can't believe that there's only one more episode left in the season!

Speaking of Fargo, I was in college in Minneapolis approx the time when the movie Fargo came out. One time, I was talking on the phone to someone in Tennessee or Indiana and they thought my accent was so funny, "like Fargo a little bit". But even better, I was in a fabric shop (still Minneapolis) and these two women came in, they were later '60s or maybe 70? They were talking to each other and the Fargo accent was so thick it was awesome. So when people say "we don't talk like that" I say, "We sure do!" Don' chya knoow, yoo betchya. Oh heck, I even had a Olds Cutlass Ciera just like the main characters in the movie. I called it "the red car" but sometimes I would refer to it as the Ciera.

Mike Birbiglia.
He's a comedian that we have seen live twice and he's very funny.
He has about 4 of hos shows on Netflix and we've seen about 3 of those. All very worth watching. This guy is genuinely funny.
Cheers.

Right now, my DH and I are rewatching the Sopranos and throughout the show the characters say, "what are you doing here?" and the reply "I was in the neighborhood!" Being from NY I can absolutely relate to that skit and think it's hysterical! but when I showed it to my Gen Z daughter it fell completely flat. I'll have to check out the Netflix material. Thx

I finally decided to give Fargo a try, found it on Hulu. While I liked the movie when it came out and appreciated for what it was, I wasn't like the hugest fan like several people I knew. I'm not a big fan of many of the Coen brothers movies, that style, but then a couple I like. All that said, I'm currently in season 4, and enjoying it a lot. I'm trying not to look anything up online while watching, just in case there are spoilers, but I did see a ranking of the seasons, and all had season 2 at top. So far, that's been my least favorite, and the one I've fast forwarded through most of the lengthy soliloquies the series seems to like. and season 4 is at the bottom of the rankings. I'm really enjoying season 4, so I don't know why people don't like it, but I"m also only halfway through, so I should reserve judgment. I'll keep on with it all. and I can't believe i"m admitting this, but in no way, shape, or form did I recognize Ewan MacGregor as one of the brothers in season 3. DH came in , and said wow that's Ewan MacGregor! I can't recognize anyone though when they change their hair color, or length, or add/get rid of facial hair. I mean not at all. I"d be a terrible eye witness.
I do remember Fargo being one of the first movies where I took real note of that pronounced accent. I'd heard NY accents etc. and being from South Louisiana, and just the South in general, I am very used to those accents, that I barely hear as accents, and people making fun of them. Fargo was the first time I'd heard anyone talk like that, with that manner of speaking.
On another note, I"m trying to find movies for DS to watch. He's not a huge tv series or movie watcher, but he will from time to time. So during the Snowmageddon week before last, finally got him to watch Sixth Sense. He said it was good. can't believe that movie came out so long ago. It was a bit tedious really, like most of M Night movies, but that twist is just the absolute greatest. DS did appreciate that a lot.
