Not sure that is as there are residents of RCID. Also Right to Use timeshares are not entirely uncommon. Westin, Wyndham and Marriot even have some. Which Marriott ones? I asked because I'm also a Marriott Vacation club owner. All of them are owned in perpetuity. And the maintenance fees are a lot less than Disney. So was the buy-in price. But resale and rental market is nothing. That is truly a vacation plan portfolio. Aruba locations tend to all be due to some legalities. I don't know the name but it was found by googling.

If the State of Florida had passed a law saying that all 1844 special districts would henceforth have boards appointed by the State and not the residents, we would be having a different discussion. Instead, the state said that only 1 (again out of 1844) would be governed in a different manner. And the State singled that one District out for differential treatment shortly after the residents of that district said that they disagreed with a law passed and were putting a pause on making campaign donations in the State. I find this difficult to defend.

I do not think non-Floridians realize just how many special districts are in Florida and this very much feels like only one entity is being treated different. Laura

Looks like Old Puddin' Fingers is at it again. He held a news conference threatening to build a state fair or prison next to the House of Mouse and talked about selling off the Reedy Creek utilities. Then, he pitched a fit when a reporter asked him about senators endorsing Trump. Boy, that Time magazine cover with Iger really got under his skin, didn't it?

The happiest prison on earth! I just don’t see how anyone can like this guy. He’s such a miserable angry goon. Like a Disney villain almost he’s so over the top.

From your link, DeSantis is proposing a new bill that would allow the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) to take action with respect to amusement park rides at Walt Disney World, while allowing SeaWorld, Universal, and Busch Gardens to remain exempt from such oversight. All 4 operators are currently exempt because they have their own inspectors and a large work force. Of particular interest to DVC owners is the threat that the state will reevaluate property tax appraisals in the former Reedy Creek District.

I don’t believe it will just be Disney with the ride inspections. I went back and watched the conference on YouTube.

And people can’t see that this is particularly vindictive and politically motivated?

Honestly I think the only reason why people are supporting Disney in this on this thread is because they have a bias towards Disney. Insert any other company and I think the same people would be crying foul. Clearly Disney is trying to pull a fast one over the state. On the one hand they claim everything was open in public and on the other hand they say they had no records to back that up? Yeah pull the other one. I can't speak for others, but I can say that this is not my reason for supporting Disney. It's because they're being punished (in an infantile and likely futile manner) for speaking out against asinine injustice and bigotry.
Others may have different reasons.
Cheers.

DeSantis clarified in the Q&A at the end that it would only be large theme parks in Special Districts, so this would only apply to Disney. Sea World, Universal and Busch Gardens would continue to self-inspect. So much for all the talk of “level playing field.” And I loved the local representative who basically promised that she intended that WDW as we know it will “die.”

So where is Iger in all of this? Isn’t he supposed to be the “ negotiator “?

Actually for FOX news this article isn't that bad (and believe me I don't support FOX news) it just proves how insane this guys is that he is attacking one of the biggest employers and money makers in his state. He makes statements that it is the will of the Florida people, well then put it on the ballot and let us Floridians vote for or against. Personally I think he should call for a boycott of Disney, if the people really believe he is right this would hurt Disney the most. I doubt you would see much of a difference but if I am wrong I would enjoy being able to reserve a DVC at 7 months and not have to walk a Christmas reservation like the old days. The other issue is that Orlando and Orange County are a blue island in a red state so I am guessing that the welfare of the people of Orange County are not high on his list. What I would like to see is an accounting for what this issue is costing the people of Florida. When he moves to apply the same rules to the Villages then I may think differently. So where is Iger in all of this? Isn’t he supposed to be the “ negotiator “? Iger has recently offered to meet with DeSantis several times, at least it has been report several times not sure if they were different offers or the same reported at different times. DeSantis has no reason to settle this as long as it gets him national press, he needs to play to his base.
