Is there any advantage or disadvantage to adding a third day before our trip vs. adding the third day during the trip?

I think I answered my own question. Park reservations. It's better to add the day now and make the park reservation vs. waiting and possibly (though unlikely) not getting the park we want.

Yes, park reservations is it. I personally wouldn't wait if parks are important.

But I hope that if you're choosing between a 4 day and a 5 day. and beforehand you "cheap out" and go with the 4 day, but then while you're at Disney, you decide to go to the park on the 5th day after all. then as long as you buy a 5th day before your original 4 day ticket expires, you only pay for the "upgraded" difference, not a 1 day ticket price. Is that understandable? And is it true?
