DW and I feel that Sanaa, Space 220, Tiffins, and (for DW and DD) V&A are examples of restaurants with some less predictable menu choices, which we value. In my opinion, even dinner at California Grill is less adventuresome than it was pre-COVID. We haven't tried Trattoria al Forno at Disney's Boardwalk, which we understand to have come under new leadership recently. We would appreciate comments from those who have. Same for California Grill. We hadn't been there since around 2008-2010. I'm not a fan of the mandatory prix fixe; I'd prefer a la carte. Regardless, the food was great, service was very good, and you can't beat the setting. I had forgotten that Cali Grill moved to prix fixe.Too much food and too high a price. Sadly, seems that we cannot go back there.
Cheers.

Yup. I was very uncomfortable after dinner. Duck pizza (loved it), black grouper (liked it), dessert. And the couple seated next to us were celebrating a birthday and shared their birthday cake with us. I'll go back, but order something lighter to start.

Definitely a shame, but they’d catch way more flak with a minimum spend per guest than just going prix fixe, no matter how much I’d prefer it. Fortunately I now can box half my meal for dinner later in the week. That said, I’d still prefer to be able to order exactly what I want instead.

This a great thread. Our family usually do TS. We've notice a major drop off in food choices and menus all appear the same with the same or similar bread pudding showing up at almost every restaurant. We all shouldn't just blame "Cheapak", the CFO McCarthy is just as bad or worse as to the cause of the crappy choices and higher prices. It isn't supply chain issues for Disney, it's the culture and planning from upper management that neglects the Parks and fleeces the guests. You are the Magic indeed. It truly is sad when DVC members are looking to cook in more or go off property to find good dining choices. So having vented and maybe this should be a different thread, but what are your recommended close off property restaurants? She is Chrissy Waistline! Do. Not. Like. Her. Even if she did help get rid of Evil Bob.

It is again too even after the 50th ends…BOO! I was hopeful, but it’s not meant to be.

If looking for a really nice meal try the Bull and Bear. Not far off property at the Waldorf Astoria.

Based on some of these replies I think we’ll try TAF and Toppollinos. Disappointing that California Grill is price fixe. We won’t be back. Same with Be Our Guest. Too much good and I’m not going to carry around leftovers.
I’m also not likely to travel offsite to eat. The point of staying onsite is to stay within the Disney bubble. If I need to go offsite to eat, I might as well stay offsite.

Prix Fix was a covid byproduct that has become a nice money maker for Disney. No longer do you have a group of 4 splitting a flatbread at the "pricier" restaurants. But I will say that I have seen improvements in the dining lately. There are plenty of really good dining options. One of our latest favs is Toledo at Coronado Springs resort. Restaurants like Turf Club are worth a look these days. Topolino's might be our current favorite restaurant and we go at least once every trip. Steakhouse 71 is another favorite, its simple but good.

No longer do you have a group of 4 splitting a flatbread at the "pricier" restaurants. Well, for the two of us, we'll often split a flatbread and another 1-2 appetizers. Not because we're being cheap, but simply because more than that is too much food. Places that don't work that way don't work for us. It's a simple equation. We went to Topolino's and wanted to like it (and the location is great) but found the menu limited and lacking to our taste. I really wanted it to be better. But, yes, there are very good options. Bluezoo is still a favorite of ours. Jiko as well. Cheers.

I think the poster child for this thread would be the Rose and Crown, dropping lunch and a very limited menu for dinner.
I agree with Tom that there are still staff issues but for the most part these are starting to be resolved. There are also still supply chain issue. Even at our local Publix there is typically at least one section that seems decimated, the eggs sections is often down to about 10% of what they typically have. If restaurants are seeing the same issue I could understand them limiting the menu to products they know will be available. A few of the TS that we have been to recently that had good menu selections include the Flying Fish, Blue Zoo, Citricos and Trattoria al Forno’s. Several of the restaurants discussed here are also partner own and operated such as those in France and Mexico so Disney has little to say about their menus.
Like brp we often order from the app section of the menu or split a main course, we typically try to sit in the bar when we are doing this. From time to time I order several apps instead of a main but if are seated in the dinning room I try to be sure it adds up to the cost of a typical main, a soup, salad and one other app usually does the trick. We also tend to order a bottle of wine so they should be happy with our bill.

the eggs sections is often down to about 10% of what they typically have. Yeah, but bear in mind that eggs have a factor unrelated to the general supply chain issues and that's the avian flu epidemic. Other areas are what we've been experiencing since early 2020.
Cheers.

Cheers. Same reason why turkey (and sometimes chicken) were limited as well. For a while I struggled to find turkey products even at home - and as someone who only eats poultry as a meat 99% of the time, that was bad.

Yeah eggs are back down for me in my area. We can get a dozen for $3 now. Still a little elevated, but the relief is present.
Wife and I went to the Regal Eagle for the first time last month. We really liked it and will be back.

Same thing happened at Olivia's at OKW. The menu was dramatically simplified. RIP my favorite: Havana Beef Sandwich with Yucca Fries! Was shocked to see the fritters were gone
