That menu changed like the week we went so when I sat down I was unsure what to get. It was a place I didn't need a chef to talk to. Sadly I had to but they made a great grilled chicken sandwich for me. Still dislike when menus change so much I have to ask what to eat. Happened at the Plaza too but I loooooove the chef there. He rocks. I wanted to love Space 220 because of the menu but in the end it was awful having a very inflexible menu for me. One and done. Doesn't help my kid felt lousy the next meal as did a friend a separate trip (same items) so I think the chef uses old oil or something This quote is sad! Plaza is good but I’ve avoided MK a lot this year! Plaza is excellent for me. When I'm planned for MK I usually book once a trip. It's like a little oasis in MK. Menu is still not great but I can work with it. Rest of these food changes are annoying!

DW and I feel that Sanaa, Space 220, Tiffins, and (for DW and DD) V&A are examples of restaurants with some less predictable menu choices, which we value. In my opinion, even dinner at California Grill is less adventuresome than it was pre-COVID. We haven't tried Trattoria al Forno at Disney's Boardwalk, which we understand to have come under new leadership recently. We would appreciate comments from those who have. A friend went to Trattoria before and after the switch and said the flatbread wasn’t as good after. Also, they changed their menu. I wanted to try the French toast and it’s gone. I thought I read somewhere that V&A could only be booked for a party of 4 now? Maybe that was a rumor and not confirmed.

They need someone on property that can make brisket. There terrible and my prime rib is better than all but one I've had at disney. They have taken away a lot of the items that were good. Wave buffet was awesome and a great price. Steakhouse 71 breakfast was eh. Ohana was a one and done. What they call steak was an exercise in wearing out my jaw trying to choke down what ever tired old nag they were getting rid of at the tri-circle d stable.

My wife was a big fan of the burnt ends at Trail's End hee hee We used to watch the guy cut them off and push them to the side, she was always too shy to ask him for them. Now we will never again get to go to Trail's End!

I wonder how much their staffing problems and unwillingness to pay more plays into this. Plus Capek’s all around penny pinching.
Is there a dining related email I can complain to? I’m becoming more curmudgeonly in my old age and am more likely to complain.

We used to love the cold buffet at Akershus. We hadn't all gone in several years, since kids are over 10, and not into the character meets, but we loved all the weird fish, and salads, and brown cheese there. From what I gather now, it's standard American fare, except for those meatballs, which surprisingly was our least favorite item there. Likely will never go back there. Haven't been to Boma or Tusker house in several yeras, hope they're keeping some of the variety on those. now if they take away or change my Ronto wraps, then we have problems! We mostly just tolerate Disney food. It's never been all that good. We always found ourselves saying 'well, it was good enough for Disney food.". Mediocre and expensive Disney food is one of the main reasons DH convinced me to buy DVC, so we could have a full kitchen, and lots of in room food. We like to try things there we can't get at home. We've got at least 5 delicious BBQ places w/in 10 miles here, so we don't seek that out there. THe one time DH did at that smokehouse in Epcot, he said it was disappointing, actually awful, won't try that again. What we do enjoy are all the Epcot food booths, so I"m good if they keep festivals gong all year

DW and DD ate together as a party of two at V&A in January 2023, and loved it, following a 60-day-out reservation. (As an aside, DW tried the non-alcoholic beverage tasting option and really like it, although it was pricey.) Today, I looked at multiple late February, mid-March, and early-to-mid April 2023 dates today and could find no availability for either two or four diners.

We used to love to eat at many of the restaurants at Disney World such as California Grill, Artist Point, Narcossee's, Tiffins, Jikos, Flhying Fish, etc. But with all the changes and ADRs difficult to obtain we are more and more eating our evening meals off site. There are some great restaurants close to Walt Disney World.

We loved character meals but like others, once the kids out grow them… but that said, breakfast buffets make the least sense to us since it is bacon, eggs, etc.
I always feel like Disney tries some unique things and then agree with you, they have to dumb it or down. Or it doesn’t sell enough to justify it on the menu. Especially under Chapek, I am sure it had to do with only keeping the top sellers and simplifying menus to pump people through.

In my opinion, even dinner at California Grill is less adventuresome than it was pre-COVID. We haven't tried Trattoria al Forno at Disney's Boardwalk, which we understand to have come under new leadership recently. We would appreciate comments from those who have. We ate at Trattoria al Forno in November, and DW and DD ate there a few weeks ago. We like it. When Flying Fish closed for the pandemic, the FF chef worked on improving the TaF menu (he went back to FF when they reopened last January). Not coincidentally, the mussels currently on the TaF menu are very similar to the mussels that were on the FF menu years ago (before the makeover from whimsical BW theme to the current decor). We came away from our November an January dinners with the same impression--we should eat here more frequently. It's not "wow, omg, this is the best ever" but it is very good, with enough on the menu that we like, and good service. And from a convenience factor, we own at BWV, so we can have dinner with no travel time cutting into our day. The best dinners we had last year were at Jaleo, Topolino's, Tiffins and California Grill. I'd put Tiffins at #1. Interesting menu, great service (we had the same waiter both times we ate there--Andy. He's really great). Topolino's was new to us and we left saying, "Can't wait to come back." Same for California Grill. We hadn't been there since around 2008-2010. I'm not a fan of the mandatory prix fixe; I'd prefer a la carte. Regardless, the food was great, service was very good, and you can't beat the setting. Jaleo, we absolutely love. We are huge Flying Fish fans. We've eaten at FF more than any other WDW restaurant. Somewhere in the 20-25x range. But...the menu has been the same for years, and we're tired of it. They used to change the menu seasonally. I'd really like to know why it's so stagnant. Another issue with FF is that our favorite waiter, who'd been there since 2017, left. No details why, just, "When we reopened after the pandemic, things were not the same and not in a good way." We'll never find out, but I'd love to know if all of the menu changes (someone mentioned Chefs de France; the duck, which was my go to, is gone) are the result of supply chain issues, budget issues, or something else. I'm sure that WDW crunches the numbers to know exactly which menu items are the most profitable, and they get rid of whatever isn't at the % they want it to be.

Also, the "usual" recommendations are chain restaurants, which we try to avoid.

Plus for me I’m glad to eat at Disney when staying onsite and eat at the other places the rest of the year (with many Disney places still sprinkled in as well of course). Otherwise I then have to worry about both driving and severely limiting my imbibing.

This a great thread. Our family usually do TS. We've notice a major drop off in food choices and menus all appear the same with the same or similar bread pudding showing up at almost every restaurant. We all shouldn't just blame "Cheapak", the CFO McCarthy is just as bad or worse as to the cause of the crappy choices and higher prices. It isn't supply chain issues for Disney, it's the culture and planning from upper management that neglects the Parks and fleeces the guests. You are the Magic indeed. It truly is sad when DVC members are looking to cook in more or go off property to find good dining choices.
So having vented and maybe this should be a different thread, but what are your recommended close off property restaurants?
