Here is a question, probably a few all in one. Did any park close over Christmas this year or since the parks reopened from the shutdown? They allowed hopping at 2:00 still. I cannot remember when they brought that back so maybe this was the first Christmas season it was allowed. I really don’t remember. Why didn’t it close or even have a partial closing with the different phases that they used for years? I know there were dates where no more reservations were allowed, but park hopping wasn’t shutdown. The only time there has been any restriction to park hopping since the parks re-opened after Covid was on MK’s 50th. Even then it was only for a couple of hours until some people left the park. Even over Christmas and New Year since 2020 there’s not been a problem. If you had a reservation you could come and go as you wanted, and you could park hop after 2pm. Park reservations meant they knew how many people were expected in each park. And those gave you the right to leave and re-enter at any time. If all guests had tried hopping to MK on the same day then they would have suspended park hopping until crowd levels dropped again. But it just didn’t happen. That is the one possible negative to getting rid of park reservations for most guests, they might have to re-introduce the phased closures. But even so, it was only usually for an couple of hours, it was very rarely that it would last longer.

I don’t worry that they will be gone, but if we want in before 2:00, there is no choice. If reservations are not selling out, you could always wake up in the morning and say "I want Epcot" and make a reservation there. You could also make reservations and then wake up and see if you could change them. You could also make reservations for MK every day! And then change them. MK seems to be the only ones really at risk of selling out. Well I guess DHS too. If a park was sold out, I would probably choose to not go to that park that day.... but that's just me

Looking for today and the near future, every day seems available for every park.
To each their own, of course. I'm just not gonna sweat things that have no impact on me.

Cheers. I’m not sweating it. I don’t worry that they will be gone, but if we want in before 2:00, there is no choice. We go on the weekends and so far no “good to go” days are on the weekends so we have to make them. If we plan lunch at Springs, we’ll go to a park before that, not after. That’s what we did yesterday with lunch plans at Springs. Logistics as a local is the driver to this. I’d rather go to the park in the morning so I don’t have to park in the back of the lot. Granted the exercise is good, but we put in over 5 miles yesterday without even trying and we were parked close. It’s also cooler in the mornings at the parks during warm temps and driving home in the dark we don’t fancy either. So…all that plays into going to the parks. Anyway…if you want to be sure you’ll get in before 2:00 to a park, a reservation is necessary. Since I was part of aforementioned lunch plans, I’ll contribute… You’re both right. Park reservations are a pain in the ass. They’re also nothing to worry about the vast majority of the time. I just did Springs yesterday, First weekend of Festival of the Arts and a holiday weekend so meets the relatively rare times to look out for, Had I been trying I am confident I would have gotten an Epcot reservation at some point last week. During brunch around noonish I could still reserve Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom. So worst case I could have checked in at Hollywood and wandered over to Epcot immediately. Or enjoyed a beverage or two at Springs and gone directly to Epcot with a reservation after 2. So again, is it annoying, absolutely. But easily handled by either making an advance reservation or dealing with the slightly inconvenient consequences of not doing so.

Question about new resorts opening and how far in advance they are announced.
I'll use POLY II as an example.
Have there been any updates when it will open (other than late 2024)? How far in advance do they typically make the exact date announcement (for planning purposes)?
Thank you

Nothing more specific.
The most recent example is the Cabins at FW. This is the timeline for those:
Opening date is July 1st. That was announced a little before these dates which were announced on Jan 16th. Interesting to note they’ve declared less than 10% of the cabins at the moment. I don’t know how that compares to other resorts but it seems low to me.
February 1, 2024 - Sales open to existing DVC members February 15, 2024 - Existing DVC members who added points at The Cabins can begin booking February 27, 2024 - New sales at The Cabins open to general public March 12, 2024 - New DVC members at The Cabins can begin booking April 23, 2024 - All DVC members can book The Cabins
So roughly 6 months notice of the opening date. And bookings open to members who don’t buy there around 10 weeks before opening.

Does anyone know when the Moonlight Magic Event at AK will begin on the 27th? If the park closes at 6pm does it begin right after?
Thanks in advance.

Typically, they start one hour after park closing. They do allow early entry 2 hours or so prior to park closing. Full details as to when you can get in and when the actual event starts will be emailed out to those registered a few days prior to the event date they are signed up for.

Okay...so it was my ipad being weird or I'm just tired.
I'm moving my question over here now....someone can delete my thread to do Unicorn clean up! *************** I have a stupid question about the stupid question thread...I can't post to it without quoting.
I feel like dementia has set in...I am of that age. Maybe the tech is being weird. I see the 2023 one with posts in Feb 2024...I'm so confused.
***************
But, I have a stupid question about MK.
Early Entry...only Tomorrowland and Fantasyland are open during early entry?
The rest of the lands don't open until actual posted park opening, correct?
Helping a friend plan ... maybe I should have asked on the thread about how easy it is the plan a Disney trip.
It's not btw.

I think it's your tech. Testing now with no issues
Correct on MK. I found that out in 2021 and was disappointed.

It's good for riding Space Mtn before the line builds. I'd avoid the SDMT craziness. IMO although it's an extra 30 minutes (most often 8:30-9:00), if you want to get ahead of the people entering at 9:00, you need to be at the Adventureland rope drop or the Liberty square rope (around the corner from Peter Pan), so some of that 30 minutes is spent waiting for the 9:00 rope drop. The Adventureland rope drop crowd is hectic, as you have people going to Jungle Cruise and to BTMRR. Liberty square rope drop near PP is not too bad. We usually do Buzz Lightyear, Pooh then wait for 9 and ride HM.

Can anyone start a new 2024 stupid question thread or is it best for an admin to do so? And, if an admin, is that on someone's to-do list? I'm not on the boards enough to really participate in the chatty thread but same question...time for new 2024 threads...or dropping the year from the subject of the existing ones?
