This talk of "gingers" makes me think of the classic "Ginger vs Mary Ann" discussion that used to occur in every bar and work breakroom over cups of coffee. Now I think time has gone by and this discussion does not happen like it used to. And it is certainly before my time...but a couple of the jobs I have held had a) an older crowd (school bus driver mostly) and b) lots of time spent with a cup of coffee in the breakroom (again with the school bus driver). "Ginger vs Mary Ann" was a real thing. For the record, I'm 100% Mary Ann and I suspect most of the people that I become friends with are also in that camp. And how cool was the Professor? But - "We want's the redhead!" "Are ya sellin' her by the pound?!" "Belay there, ya scum! Shift yer cargo, dearie, show 'em your larboard side. No need to expose your superstructure!" We use to buy wine from a place where the grapes came from the same vineyard but one came from the a rocky slope and was a more fruit forward and a little bolder the other from the sandy flat area and was smoother and more refined. The wine maker use to say they were like Ginger and May Ann both were great it just depended on what you were in the mood for... I always thought thought they should have made the chickens in the redone pirate scene Rhode Island Reds then they could have made a node back to the original and had the pirates yelling "We want's the red hen"

Well it's -10 here this morning, with a high of -3. Or, depending on which place you look, it's -12 right now with a high of -4. I think the colder one is at the airport, and my house is closer to the airport. And it's windy. By Tuesday we should break zero, then there's a high of zero after that. I try to remember these days when it is hot outside, so as to not complain about the heat.

At least we're not getting dumped with snow this far east. Friends in IL are stuck inside today. I think based on even timing of wind here you should be fine. As long as you weren't scheduled on a Max 9 Nooooooo!! :0) There is a window (fingers crossed) where it looks like we can maybe get out a few minutes early and get to MCO before the heavy stuff moves in. I'm watching the incoming flight, ORD to PHL. If it departs on time that is hopefully good for us. Our MCO arrival was a little later than scheduled, because the plane had to fly around the storm front, then got caught in air traffic around MCO so we circled once or twice before landing. Wheels up to wheels down, PHL to MCO, is 2 hours +/- a few minutes, and this flight was 2:30. No big deal. Then...heavy storm and tornado warning in Orlando, and the lightning shut down the ground crews, so our luggage was delayed almost two hours. MCO food court for dinner. instead of Epcot. Yum. Good way to start a vacation. Uber/Lyft is our new preferred MCO to WDW transportation. We did use a car service for years, but the price difference is significant (car service $105 plus tip one way; Uber was $64 plus tp to WDW and $52 plus tip back to MCO).

Cheers.

We rent a car sometimes, usually when it's a short trip and we want control of our departure/arrival times to where we're headed (vs. relying on WDW transportation). That makes some dinners tough, because I usually have a cocktail before dinner and wine with dinner, and I don't drive if I've had more than one drink, so we end up Ubering for dinners, which adds to the overall cost.

Definitely more for Mary Ann here too. I think having a cat named Ginger has me totally forgetting about the show and that Ginger! Of course also having a ginger boy for the last 16 years my first thoughts definitely go to other people. But I do definitely remember the Mary Ann versus Ginger discussion. All said and done, we still say "we wants the redhead" quietly while on the ride, of course while looking at my kid Us too. DD is a redhead.

Glad you made it and at least not too late on the ground but the luggage. Oof sorry. Makes me glad we carry on mostly. I still get a little weird if doing Lyft/Uber by myself around Orlando but we've used it before if not renting. The car service I like most is $175 plus tip both ways. Rentals are still higher than they should be but debating on what to do this year for our trips still. I have rentals at least for now.

I get a little obsessed with constantly checking and rechecking the rates for a price drop. It's really bizarre how a price can change, sometimes more than one change per day. Clearly their algorithm and supply/demand. I definitely understand the reluctance re solo rideshare. I doubt that DW or DD would use it alone.

I did it all the time. Cabs too. Not dure why I opted no a few years ago. Maybe I need to get over it. I also dislike how any ride share or car service always uses I4 due to cheaper tolls so I usually just suck up and rent. I don't check often but I see if autoslash finds anything cheaper. It's been weirdly quiet for this year.

Was -17 on the way to church here in IL yesterday. Currently -2. Starting to warm up! For anyone with a car rental booked, I’d recommend double checking prices. For our long weekend at the end of the month, I checked last night and it went down from $122 to $75 (not including all the fees). Surprised it went down that much.

It's been extra cold here for a few days, I went out to my garage and grabbed a tool from upstairs. Went back down and thought, "Man this tool is awful cold" so I go back up there and it's 35 degrees! I have plants living out there! (A Bird of Paradise plant from Hawaii that I have named "Tiki" been nursing him along since the '90s, and one other house plant) Turns out my furnace for the upstairs wasn't running. It's in an unheated closet in the downstairs, which is the normal garage part. Well, it was running but it wasn't firing for some reason. I got to wondering if the chimney on the roof had iced up, which has never been a problem before but it does happen. I left the closet door open so heat from the garage could get into the furnace closet, turned the heater up downstairs, and voila, half-hour later it fired up.
So now it's slowly working it's way back up to 60-65 up there. That's a long way from 35!
