I thought the steam was already here…it’s a whole new level this morning. When the air is thick at 6:30 am, it’s going to be a steamy hot day! Stay indoors, Brian. I think I’ll start the book my uncle gave me.
I don’t know how MNSSHP could have been enjoyable last night! We went last year later in August and that was a one & done. I’m glad we went, but it was too darn hot.

DH was laughing at me last night. I started packing for the September 17 cruise. He won't laugh when he's looking for some ginger for acid reflux, or a bandaid (although I use them the most), or his sandals (honestly, if he didn't take his sneakers off to sleep I'd think they were permanently attached), or suntan lotion. Hey do you think TSA would let me take a 10oz bottle of suntan lotion thru security? I think I'll try it. If I don't take it soon it will expire and I'll throw it out anyway.

Coffee sounds good...my coffee maker is packed away and I look around and there's no place I consider safe to put it, for fear of it falling and breaking. I just drink Mtn Dew instead. Still no kitchen hee hee. It's just fun and games at this point.
Cabinet guy is mostly incommunicado (no idea how to spell that and too lazy to look it up) but last time I talked to him it sounded like we were getting close. (Shrug)
Wife and I laugh at the thought that when we talked to him in January and set this all up, I got the impression from him that I better chop chop (I was getting the room all ready) and I pressed him for details and he said MAYBE end of April. That didn't happen and we scheduled the floor guys for last two weeks in May with the pretense that cabinet guy would come after that, so I was busting my hump to get the stairs moved and all the drywall done in time and then here we sit. So I have a reputation (deserved) for taking a long time to get projects done...but now I told my wife that I don't feel so bad about myself anymore after waiting for this guy.

I started packing for the September 17 cruise. T minus one month, I like your thinking. I try to do the same thing. Until it's 2am the day we leave and I'm finally wrapping up the packing and then I set the alarm for 90 minutes later.

I totally flabbergasted at how long this seems to be taking…. Are they making all custom cabinets that had to be measured after all your prep work was done? I don’t understand the delay?

We had our kitchen out of commission for 2 months and that was enough for me. Delay in ours was actually due to an appliance issue we didn't plan for. It's not fun and I cannot imagine being so held up by this, so I hope you get yours back soon!

I totally flabbergasted at how long this seems to be taking…. Are they making all custom cabinets that had to be measured after all your prep work was done? I don’t understand the delay? Yeah it's all custom, he did some drawings before I gutted the space and finished the drywall but came after to do final measurements. He also is a one-man shop, he used to have a crew but can't seem to find people that aren't crackheads which I get. Also, we've known him for a dozen years, and so he's I think taking advantage of the fact that we are lenient - he's almost to the point of retirement from the cabinet career and is trying to focus on family and doing other things. I suspect he may or may not be doing other jobs while taking advantage of our willingness to wait...heh. But, we were out to his shop like three weeks ago and I saw the boxes and they were painted my wife's chosen color, so at least there's that. He had all the doors and drawers too, but they weren't painted yet. He was about to drill for hardware and then paint. I heard something about a family trip so if everything goes well, maybe he has everything painted and then when he comes back from that trip I will get a call and they will be installed in three days? Who knows. He said he wanted to get us done before the trip but I'm assuming that did not happen. Once cabinets are in, we still have to get countertop fabricated and then get the appliance people to install the appliances. I mean, I can install stuff but there's no way I'm moving that gas stove and the fridge looks a little out of my league too. But they said installation was included, they delivered them to my garage last year and said give them a call when we want them installed. Currently, I use my camping stove out in the detached garage, the fridge and old cabinets are in the attached garage, and I use the utility sink the laundry room so it's almost like I have a kitchen. I have the old electric stove sitting there, too, I could have wired it up easily but I chose not to. I should have, I could have baked some meals!

It's not fun and I cannot imagine being so held up by this, so I hope you get yours back soon! Yeah I had working kitchen until approx May 10, as I recall, so I'm on three months. Speaking of appliances, for coming on two years I've had my garage filled with appliances, simply so we didn't have appliance problems when the kitchen was done! hee hee. It was during/right after covid and the dishwasher and the stove were being hard to get, so I tracked them down after some hunting and we did have to wait a couple months for the stove to be built. Also got the fridge, and a sink and the hood vent insert. Then things changed a couple winters ago and the kitchen had to be put on hold until this spring. So one day soon, my garage is going to seem huge!

So one day soon, my garage is going to seem huge! That was smart! Our issue wasn't planned and half of the issue was Samsung repair unable to fix a less than 10 month old fridge. This was 2019. By the time we got Samsung to agree to a refund, we ran into stock issues due to summer appliance sales. I was about to replace all and change colors but found a fridge. Definitely not fun. We had a dorm fridge we bought but kept it in the basement. Finally after a month I decided I didn't care if we had a fridge in the living room I never want to do that again!
