Happy Saturday. Today is our annual July party. Expecting about 40 folks. Got up at 3:30AM to start the brisket in the smoker. Any MO peeps in the Bay Area want to stop by (we're in the South Bay area), send me a PM, Seriously. Cheers. Have a great day! Our annual July party was last Saturday, and DH was out at 4am smoking ribs.

So I probably haven't 'learned my lesson' because I'm thinking of not renewing our AP until we go in October. We have until 30 day after it expires to renew and the AP expires on September 23. Just thinking ....

Figure the expiration day doesn't matter because whether I renew on time or with the 30 days it's the same. If we end up scooching a vacation in August or September, then I'll probably renew then.

It's just ridiculous in PA. Yesterday the temp was 89 but the 'real feel' was 106.
We went to the large church sale again, which was incredibly hot even though there was frequent nice breeze. I was storing my finds in a paper grocery bag supported on my arm and sweated right through it so by the time I walked into the house I was cradling paper pieces. I did find two more dresses for oldest GC (12y Tuesday!), a really nice deviled egg tray to take my contribution for today's Bday celebration and a nice pair of earrings (since I lost my last fav pair babysitting - arriving home a pirate, arghh).
It sounds like we're in this weather system for the foreseeable future. DH was actually implying he'd like to squeeze in a WDW trip in late August/early September. Hmmm... Florida weather sounds the same as here.

It seems like our AC has been running nonstop. Nest is trying that Eco setting in this heat. No thanks. I'll pay for the comfort of AC.

Being as how I am a kitchen and bath remodeler…… I don't have any plans to go into this professionally, but now I'm wondering, what does being a "kitchen and bath remodeler" entail? Like do you do everything from design to install and all that good stuff? Coordinate with trades I presume - plumber electrician tile etc. So far I am plumber, electrician, tile, carpenter, drywall. We farmed out hardwood floor because that has special equipment, we will have someone do countertop because she wants stone, and while I could have build the cabinets it probably would have taken three years so that's being done by someone. And my wife always has the same lady come and paint our rooms because she's in and out and it isn't too bad in price. Sorry this response is sooooo tardy. I don't do any selling or designing, as such. I do some "on the fly" designing when the homeowner doesn't like what has been designed by the professional. I do almost all of the labor, myself. I'm all alone, a self employed remodeling contractor. I do the tear outs, which I hate! I also do 99% of the plumbing and electrical. All the carpentry and tile. Drywall..... I will hang as much as is needed but I don't do any finishing beyond what 3-4 sheets will cover. I used to do all my on finishing as well but I have a good friend who is a professional finisher. I had him redrywall an entire house once, ceilings too. It was only about 950 square foot total and he and I, along with his dad, hung it all in one day. I don't like to paint but on very rare occasions I will paint a small bathroom or kitchen. I need to have extra time on my calendar and feel sorry for the homeowner. Almost everyone is doing some type of solid surface countertops now. I used to work with a Corian fabricator, that's still my favorite countertop product. I've done some butcher block, tile, and laminate countertops. The vast majority of my work comes from a local kitchen and bath store. They sell all the products and have a program where they can even bid the labor. Occasionally someone needs to go out and look over a job because of peculiar situations. I'm 1 of 3 contractors who work like this for the same store. I'm the "kid" on the job with only 30+ years. It's worked very well for a long time.

Weather has been delightful here today. Might have reached 80 (which is warm for me) but there's been a pleasant breeze all day with rolling clouds. AC is off and the windows are opened!
We had our 13 year old grandson with us for the past 2 weeks. It's been a lot of fun. He helps me on the job.... he wants to learn trade skills although he says he going to college too. No reason not to do both!

But much as I made my decision to move down here, when all other such shittiness is equal, Disney definitely wins. Ha on the “Eco” setting, Not a snowball’s chance in hell of me ever selecting one of the electric company’s more economical options. Weather has been delightful here today. No reason not to do both! Great to have company! And though unfortunately often determined necessary, college is way beyond overrated. Trade skills are spectacular to have, says the man who has none.

Rain caused a birthday celebration delay due to threatened flooding. Two years ago our eldest's town flooded and they just opened the community playground. Luckily all the threats never came to fruition so the party's on for tonight. Of course, as Brian says above, it is freaking Monday so the party's not until evening. With babysitting Tuesday, the last activity I want is an evening party. Not to mention with DS not driving getting him to and from work will be problematic. Busy evening ahead. Stupid weather.
On a positive note, it was slightly cool this AM.

It's worked very well for a long time. As an "end user", this sounds like the way I would want it done. Some things ARE specialized, though, so bringing that stuff in is almost a must, like the flooring: we had sheet vinyl and they ripped that up and put real hardwood, weaved in and matched perfectly with the rest of the house from 1957. So that's cool. Took them two weeks, though, no way I could do that Countertop: We decided on Cambria. Obviously I can't do that myself, either...
