We’re bringing my in laws with us to Disney. Mom and dad are traveling down with my brother in law, and he’s tacked an extra day at universal before we all go to WDW. Mom and dad are not super mobile and they’re going to need scooters at WDW and I”m now worried that they need a scooter at the hotel near universal too. Added complication is that I’m not able to join at that portion of the trip, and I have no idea what accommodations have been reserved. I’ll try to find out.
Is it possible to arrange transportation to take the scooter from the “near” universal resort over to the WDW resort? Or is it better to just get a one day rental for there and then the length of stay from WDW? Better can be some combination of less expensive vs convenience.

Call Mears and arrange for a pickup at Universal to WDW with a van that can transport the scooter.

OK, that confirms that is an option. It’s not obvious on their site, so I wasn’t sure.
Apparently the hotel “near universal” isn’t booked yet, so I’m kind of stuck.

Another option....
To be honest, it might be cheaper just to book two separate scooters and just catch an uber between Universal and WDW.

I saw that service too. These places are clearly not catering to me because I don’t want to call! I did call mears, they don’t schedule in advance. She said I could call the evening before. So that is a negative imo. It’s a lot easier to get an Uber. Although, mom is great at phone calls.
From what I can tell, scooterbug meets our needs and it will be at least $50 more to get two different rentals. I suppose I can call them to see if they can do anything for me too. I don’t think the cost of the accessible taxi will be that much more than an Uber. But I don’t know for sure.

Although, mom is great at phone calls. This reminds me of my wife's mom. Wife would give her a list of things to find out, and she'd spend the afternoon calling all around. I'm more like "If they don't have an online version, I don't want it"

Regarding your comment about Scooterbug meeting your needs, I would suggest using anyone other than Scooterbug. I tried them once when they first became the "official" scooter rental of WDW and it was a very unpleasant experience. The one they gave me had a battery problem but instead of trying to fix it or replace with a working scooter anything close to what I had rented they gave me this tiny little thing that is designed to be able to fit in the trunk of a car. I ended up having to spend half a day calling all over town and waiting for call backs to find another company to bring me a working scooter. It was not easy to find someone that had one on last minute notice - and I still had to pay for both scooters for the week.

Oh! Well that is no good. What companies do you like? I was looking at the 4 wheeler ones because we want to minimize tipping (and other advantages..). How large are the pick up and drop off windows for other companies? This will be during the busiest time of the year…. We can’t have dead scooters!

But their bonbon chicken is amazing. I usually try to get DH to call.
