No surprise. It has been upgraded to a Cat 5, so there will be lots of problems. As luck would have it for me, we're arriving on Saturday morning after the hurricane is well past Florida.

Down to a cat 4 but skirting the northern Yucatan peninsula at the moment. It is supposed to at least weaken before slamming Tampa.
Tampa is suspending flights starting 9 am today. PIE is closing after last flight today. It is in a mandatory evacuation zone. RSW is closing tomorrow and Thursday for commercial flights.

We were supposed to be there today, but Southwest and OKW shifted us around, and now we arrive Saturday.

We were at Disney from the 3rd to the 8th. Our original flight home was at 6pm on Tuesday the 8th. On Sunday, I got a text from Southwest saying flights could be delayed or cancelled. So… After looking at the path of Milton, we switched to a 7am flight home on Tuesday. It was a bear to get picked up at 3:30am, but we felt better getting out earlier. I was afraid the airport would get worse later in the day.

We were suppose to fly out Wednesday morning at 6:00am. With MCO closing at 8:00 we thought we were going to sneak out just before the storm but UA canceled the flight. We were able to get the same flight Friday morning (one of the first flights out ) and still get on our cruise in Québec. We lost a day but certainly could have been worse.

No one reporting that was/is there? I have seen a number of reports elsewhere. There were some damages done to the roof at Grand floridian. Lots of singles came off. Along the Boardwalk I think there were some damages to light posts. At Polynesian one of the longhouses had part of the roof flip up and massive water damage done to a couple of the rooms. Nothing that could not be fixed as a whole. Better than some places as well.

oh wow! heading there in 4 weeks ....at GFV and BLT.. Aotearoa at the Polynesian was the worst I've seen so far for damage. Shingle work on GF and lights elsewhere. They had to evacuate Aotearoa. Most others were minor.

Just got home to TN, from our week at BWV. First time experiencing a hurricane at Disney. We didn't really get out and explore all that much around the resort, but we did see a broken awning, a broken light I think from a lamp post, and lots of branches, leaves, debris like that still all over. I didn't see any major tree damage, or large branches, but lots and lots of little ones, and leaves and such. There was still a bit all over the parking lot when we left today. We were on the 5th floor, and I didn't like that much at all, listening to the wind howling, rain pelting the patio doors, and lots of other roof noise. We also had very, very wet carpet extending into the bedroom about 3 feet from the balcony door. . It didn't bother us, we reported it the next morning. They did come and dry it somewhat, but it didn't really feel try until last night. No water came in through the living room door.
I will agree that Disney will take care of you if you are there during a hurricane. The kids just wanted to hang out in the room, and so did we , so I don't know what kinds of activities they had or if there were characters to meet. Wednesday night, There were box lunches available in that coffee shop. DH and I each got one, and they were fairly priced, and he said they were good. We'd brought a lot of in room food anyway, and I still had leftover food/wine food and a Ronto Wrap, so we were ok, as long as the power didn't go out, so we could reheat stuff.
We had a standard view 1 bedroom, 5083, and looking to the right from the balcony, had a good view of the bridge you drive over to get from the parking lot to the building. Water levels were very high after the storm. Took some pictures to show the difference from checkin, after storm, and I think I took one today. DD said that they weren't running the boat yesterday, Friday, to HS, due to water levels.
But I was very, very worried about possible tornadoes. We kept WESH, on all day, and some of the tornado warnings were not all that far east from Kissimmee, and our area. You just never know where the tornadoes will spawn, and that is scary. Initially this storm make me think it might be like Andrew. That hurricane was scary, as we sat up at my parent's house all night, listening to the trees break, parts of roof flying, power out for 6 days, etc. etc. I was thankful Milton was downgraded to a cat 3 before it hit, but that's bad too.
Hope they can get all the repairs done as quickly as possible. Driving back on I75, through Valdosta/ Albany GA, there are SO many huge trees down. Roots up. I know the cities were heavily damaged from Helene, and still recuperating.
