The times are a changing and I foresee that I have more VGC points than I need and am finally considering parting with one of my contracts.
In previous years there was very little inventory and high resale asking prices. That seems to have changed and I'm noticing plenty of inventory.
Is VGC losing demand or is all DVC sales in a slump?

It's likely a combination of factors. Disney is seeing an overall slowing of traffic. Less guests means less people interested in committing long term to Disney. Also, although VDH sales are slow, it would take some of the pressure off VGC. Finally, there is evidence of a mini recession and slowing of travel in general. VGC resales hit near ridiculous prices. Some would say a softening was inevitable.

I think that the pandemic "revenge" travel peak has passed. And there may be an underswing a bit as backlash as people look at budgets and the mini recession possibility that baymaxfan alluded to. Cheers.

I just looked at some of the VGC resales. Yes, there is softening. At the height, resales were about . . . gulp . . . $300/point. Now, it looks closer to $250/point. I bought my VGC resale in back in 2012 for $101/point. Wish I had bought more. Still, I'm thrilled that I could sell for $250/point if I wanted.

Resales...Where are they now? Well, over the past year, most resorts have seen around a 15% drop in price....Poly is one of those exceptions. Overall travel to Disney et al is declining because of peak covid revenge travel is done, Disney inflation (like normal, but double) and people seem to be choosing cruises and Europe travel over Disney. And for good measure, there is a certain degree of "protest" Disney travel.
If you are truly done with your VGC points, take the money and run. If you are not sure, rent the points (yourself or a broker) for a year or two, and see where life takes you.

and people seem to be choosing cruises and Europe travel over Disney. Actually, people are choosing other travel over theme park travel, in general. As I posted elsewhere, in 2023, Universal Orlando saw a larger attendance drop than did Disney, attributed to other travel destinations. So, this is not a Disney thing. It is a theme park thing as all prices are rising.
Cheers.

When an international trip costs less or the same as a theme park trip, the theme park will eventually suffer.

For us, we're at a time in our life where the Villa venues are more of a draw than the parks. I don't walk like I use to - don't have the breath or the back strength. If you take the park cost out, then a WDW trip is practically halved and it turns into a Florida vacation that includes transportation. It's good VGC is still commanding the $250 pricing. Our 3 home are either at or below the per point price we purchased them, in the years we purchased them. I just saw an AK at $99/p so we're losing $$ there.
