My Dad has partially paralyzed legs (from a snow shoveling accident right before Covid) and during Covid pre-Lightning Lane he was DAS. I know they changed it up again w/ the introduction of G+ and LL so what's the current situation? Thanks!

DAS is still available. He can pre-register via a video chat using the MDE mobile app or in person at a theme park guest relations location.

My Dad has partially paralyzed legs (from a snow shoveling accident right before Covid) and during Covid pre-Lightning Lane he was DAS. I know they changed it up again w/ the introduction of G+ and LL so what's the current situation? Thanks! If he does the preregistration via video chat he would be eligible to also pre book two rides per day. He must be present for the chat and everyone in the party including him would need to already have tickets and park reservations in order to book the advanced ride reservations. You can add members of the traveling party later at Guest Relations, however they can’t be added to the pre booked rides. After scanning in at a park, in addition to the pre booked rides, he can book a return time at 1 ride at a time via the My Disney Experience App with the return time being approximately the current wait time. Those selections don‘t have an expiration time and can be used any time before park close but he can’t book another one until that one is used. Unlike Genie+ and ILL, DAS selections can be made for the same ride multiple times. I also used Genie+ with my DAS because we had already pre purchased it before they stopped allowing that. The video chat can be done between 30 days and 2 days before the visit. It’s best to do it right at 7:00 AM when they open to avoid a wait. Mobility can not be used as a reason for the DAS. He would need to explain what would make it difficult to wait in line and how DAS would benefit him. I found the video chat to be great and the Cast Members were very kind.

You can also register for DAS early but pick the rides at a later time as long as it is 2 days in advance or sooner.
My subsequent chats have taken less time than original. Just remember if a wheelchair can help, then DAS is not provided.

Have you used DAS since they changed the in-park return time process from finding a CM at the attraction entrance to doing it yourself in the MDE mobile app?

First time using DAS since Nov 2020 - that was the last time my dad went to WDW with us Once you qualify for DAS there is a new button in the MDE. You can select rides by clicking the ride you want and a DAS button will appear. You can also see DAS options by selecting the 3 lines on the bottom left and scrolling down to DAS and select that. None of this is visible until you are qualified.

If you were qualified in the past for DAS, then is it a permanent part of your MDE profile (as mentioned my dad was DAS in 2020) or do you have to redo it every trip?

It's only valid for 60 days for AP holders. My last DAS was June 2022. I will be re-upping for March in February. Unfortunately my May trip will require me to reup again since March will drop off 2 weeks prior

During the video chat, be prepared to talk about why waiting physically in line is a problem. Since scooter and wheelchairs can go through the lines, it can't just be about mobility issues. You don't have to give a specific diagnosis and they're not supposed to ask for one. Just be descriptive about why your father can't wait in line. Note your father will have to be there for the video chat. But you can be there and assist. You will need to know what rides you want for your two per day before the chat. They cannot change or add selections after the chat. There's a limited list of what attractions are available to be selected for each park. No cosmic rewind or rise of the resistance unfortunately. If you get denied don't be afraid to try again! The first cast member denied my father. But the next day a different cast member immediately noticed he was approved for a visit a few years ago and reapproved him without further discussion. There are several youtube videos available that helped us through the new process. Just search for disney disability access. The DAS system works in the MDE app similar to genie +. You can make 1 return time at a time for the available attractions for the guest using DAS and up to a certain number of people (don't remember how many) who are set up in the DAS guest's planning party. In other words there is no need to purchase genie plus for your group as long as the DAS guest is willing to participate. The catch is the DAS guest must go through the lightning lane line with the party even if they don't intend on getting on the ride. As soon as your party magic bands into the attraction, you can make your next return time reservation. I hope this helps. BamaCbat

Mobility alone never qualifies. My first time trying the person was clueless about the new chat process. Then I got disconnected and tried again. But I do not have mobility issues. And a chair will make them worse. One is not supposed to use DAS if the one who qualifies isn't riding too. Rides absolutely can be added or changed after the chat. I've done that numerous times. Just cannot be done inside 2 days. The list is here disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/guests-with-disabilities/attractions-available-for-das-advance/Use of Genie+ is entirely different and I know some who use both.
