How do you make room requests to the resorts - not through DVC. Is there a phone number or email?

We were at OKW December of 2023 with family and needed to request rooms, we ended up calling the number listed when we looked up the resort on Google.
I'm pretty sure it is NOT someone at the front desk, however...I have a piece of paper that someone at the front desk wrote a number on and told me to call. That was years ago, though, when we tried to call it this time it just rang and rang and rang.

Call Member Services (800) 800-9800 or (407) 566-3800✝ - Option 1 Use online chat service. This is good because you get instant feedback, without having to call someone. You can also fax your reservations, but I would not rely on that at all.
Members can also select from a list of valid requests when completing Online Check-In Service beginning 60 days prior to Check-In for Walt Disney World Resort hotels and 10 days prior to check in for Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas, Ko Olina, Hawai`i, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort and Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort. (Note: Online Check-In is not available at The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.)

I've also made requests by Emailing Member Services. Most times it works, but occasionally I not only don't get my requests, I seem to get nearly the opposite. But I think that's more a function of the resort.

This time I think I’m going to try the online chat as mentioned above. I’m just wondering, how early/late should I make the requests? Does it matter?

Since we are in the Club, we send our requests around 10 days out and normally get our request.

Mostly because I'm afraid I'll forget if I try for any closer. I usually use the email function. Last requests were met (or almost for BWV but the room area I wanted wasn't finished being refurbished)

I always call Member Services at the time I make the reservation so I don’t forget and that way, I know I didn’t miss the day they do assign the rooms. Then I call to confirm the request is still on our account about two weeks prior just to be on the safe side. Years back sometimes it would disappear and not be there but I think they fixed that glitch as my requests are now always there.

For DS's trip I used online chat about 4 weeks prior to request a lake view room, upper floor, and I appreciated the instant feedback that my message was received. I also mentioned it was his honeymoon, and he got room 7115 at Copper Creek. It's the corner studio that's oversized and has two balconies and a great view of the lake and pool. I know a little luck was involved, but DS and DDIL were thrilled with the room. The only problem with they had was Wednesday when it rained. Water flowed under the doors of the balcony, and they dealt with some minor flooding.

We just have a BWV standard. Thanks!

I do want to say I tend to request the opposite of what you are so maybe they do a better job with it because I'm actually asking for things that many people don't? I struggle with excessive light and noise while sleeping. And even just chilling in the room. So I tend to ask for far from the lobby. And away from main pools as much as possible. Boardwalk was an issue this last trip because they were still doing rooms by the quiet pool. Which made that area actually noisier than by the main pool. They gave me really close to that and on the first floor which is what I request because the light seem less bright on the first floor. It also allows me to avoid using the elevator. Our trip before that they gave us exactly what we wanted at Riviera. I'm even thinking for their back and we had third floor for a lake view at Polynesian last year. At Copper Creek we got upper floor facing the quiet pool. Before that I had asked for a sort-of-not-really but kind of savannah view when I had a standard view at Jambo and said I just want to not face the pool for noise and light due to sensitivities. I also say every time we are fine with walking long distances and actually prefer it. So it could be that I'm getting luckier with my requests too because I'm going against the grain compared to some people. I would rather quieter and less light pollution and as far from the lobby as possible in many cases.
