My wife and I are heading to HHV in November to celebrate our birthday (we have the same one). We have never been to HHV and are hoping for some suggestions on some fun things to do for just the 2 of us. Thanks in advance for ideas.

We'll also be there in November-see you there! It's a very relaxing resort. There's a wooden swing behind the Main Lodge that faces the marsh. We've been known to spend hours in that swing, watching the birds and other assorted wildlife. We also enjoy walking along the marina and seeing all the boats and yachts, taking out a jigsaw puzzle from the "game closet" (ask at the front desk), and scouting thrift shops. That's assuming a typical "too cold to swim" November. There have been a few years when it was plenty warm enough to swim and use the hot tub. And keep an eye on the list of activities-last year they had a delicious hot chocolate bar one Sunday.

That wooden swing was such a treat to find on our recent trip. I spent a good amount of time there just watching the marsh.
If you enjoy history, there are several Civil War era sites on the island. Search hiltonheadislandsc.gov/parks. Several nice nature preserves to walk about in, searching for birds and gators. We enjoyed the Mitchellville Freedom Park this time around.

When we were there HHI had canoe and those boats you kneel on tours. We moved the table out onto the veranda and played cards watching the water. Then we'd walk around to the eateries and enjoy the live entertainment. I think the most we stayed was 2 nights. My daughter went for a week and said their were bars, lounges and shopping malls.

Thanks again all. Tomandrobin - Well, isn't the "birthday celebrating" a given? Thanks, Simbasmom - The wooden swing sounds like a very relaxing time, gonna have to give that a try. And thanks for the suggestion on the activities list, I forgot the resorts do those. Janebanks - we will definitely check out the history website and nature preserves bakerworld - the eateries and live entertainment were things I looking for info on, do you have any specifics? DW will want the shopping malls info and your speaking to me when you mention the bars and lounges - more specifically any info on local breweries that are must try's.

Check out the SERG restaurant group on the island. Lots of different restaurant offerings that are fun to explore!

If you like comedy & magic you might want to check out the Comedy Magic Cabaret. It's owned by a husband/wife team, very close to the resort and it's a small intimate venue. We always enjoy shows there - find them online to see if they've got shows during your trip & order them online.
Definitely agree with the Serg restaurants being highly recommended.

Totally agree with the Comedy Magic Cabaret. Make sure owner Kerry is in when you go. Our faces hurt from laughing when we left. It was terrific!!!

If you enjoy cooking and eating fresh local seafood, Benny Hudson's fish market is a Can't Miss. They have their own shrimping boat, and the shrimp is so fresh and good. Also, ask for the deviled crab -- mostly crab meat; best I've ever had. bennyhudsonseafood.com/

It's been about 8 years since we were in Hilton Head. The way it was when we stayed is you walk out the front of the resort and to your right where there should be large boats docked. In front of where the boats are docked there are eateries with outside seating. Towards the end of the row was a bar where a live band played.
As you drive down the main thoroughfare, just before your arrive at the turnoff into the area to access the DVC, you'll see the shopping on your right.
Google local wineries/breweries. I think Savanah is like an hour away on Rt. 17. They have a nice river walk.

Now that is a different type of suggestion and who doesn't enjoy a comedy club. Will be checking this place out. Thank you wdw 1972.
