I would have to see it, but likely wouldn’t use an RTB that required google docs. Not user friendly, and much more like a brokerage than an RTB. I don’t know what the answer is, but I will probably continue to use other sources.

The one issue with the form and this is more an issue to owners on it. Is not updating it to say they have no points. I emailed a few over the weekend and all of the replies said they dint have any. But like most things this is users not updating. the actual form is very useful. Felt bad spending unsolicited emails tbh. Exactly why I don’t try to use that resource. I don’t like bugging people for no reason, and I don’t really have time to send out multiple emails to individual owners. And if a new board would operate more like a points broker, those already exist. So I don’t see the advantage of having another?

JMHO but I find the google form cumbersome. It’s not mobile app friendly. I don’t use my Google acct much, and having to log into it every time is a little of a nuisance. This is just me. If this was somewhere posted here on this site and not through Google, , I could easily go in and update it. Now you reminded me I need to go in and update my listing. Tradeoffs in life for everything Google forms isn't perfect BUT it makes integrating into a spreadsheet *super* easy AND it can be integrated into a mailing list *super* easy. My plan is to have a form where people enter their requests and it goes out to the registered owners so they don't have to be logged into the forum to see rental requests. Trying to do the same thru BBboards is well 100000x harder.
Yes google forms is great for creating sheets. I think we need to have bigger discussions with more about what they want and what they are willing to do. Personally I would not want to be on that list, but if I saw a person who wanted to rent, and I happened to have extra here I'd rather that. I may or may not have points in the future, but being on a google sheets public thing is not my idea of secure or safety. Sorry. I guess I am confused since there was a push here to make the boards for renting and now we're not. Might be worth a bigger discussion with most.

I think that discussion of renting needs to be a higher level discussion and thought for you (Helena) and the other administrators. Those of us who spent a while on MouseOwners know that the RTB aspects were among the biggest headaches of Kim, Dirk, etc. On this board, one item I notice is that the individuals who tend to ask is there a location on MagicOwners about renting points have single digit post counts. (Not just in this thread but also other threads on MagicOwners.) You (Helena) will need to decide if all the associated hassles of a RTB type section is worth it.
Of course, sometimes the RTB forum was the site of "entertainment" for those of us watching Kim going "full Kim" in some threads that I wish had been archived.

This isn't really just me doing much, but I do think it should be open for discussion. On our big old FB group I help run, we just say we are not responsible for any rental issues. Don't come to us. Leave us alone. We do make sure those on the group are actual DVC owners with a quick search on the OC Comptroller. That's it. If you take the risk to rent, that's on you. If you need points and ask and others offer and things go south, that's on you. I am not involved outside of regular duties and I have no issues doing that here. I'm just not comfortable with info on google sheets personally. That is me. I'd use a broker first. I am looking at other sites to see how they do it though. I know we said we would do a RTB here and I'm one who is on my word. So I'm willing to do some things, but not everything. I want to make it easy for all.

Just a brief comment about Disboards Rental Board; in the beginning it was a free service. As time went on, you were grandfathered into having 6 free posts annually, and only good for 30 days. If you were a new poster or simply just want to join Disboards to rent, it started out at $25/ annually for the 6 posts annually. In the beginning, you could not post a 7 day rental ( confirmed reservation) to thwart off the RCI/ Interval International trades. Now, they are allowing confirmed reservations but at a much higher price,( maybe $125?) but could be posted for 30 days. If you didn’t pay that fee, you could post a confirmed reservation but only if it was 60 days out.
TBH I haven’t looked into what the fees or terms are for a couple of years now. I am now renting a confirmed reservation ( fixed week at Copper Creek) and Disboards won’t allow this posting because it is for 7 days. With the advent of fixed weeks sold with DVC, you would think they would have changed this policy. But nope, they aren’t budging.

We can ask for verifications and look to see if they are owners and make sure IPs match where they claim they are. If this was Disboards, most of us would have been banned, including our moderators, for posting. I do not post on Disboards as I know how easy it is to get suspended or banned if you say something that the moderators disagree with. The normal level of snarkiness and going off topic that MouseOwners and MagicOwners has been know for seems to be totally unacceptable on Disboards as well as Disboards not being open to opinions that do not match "management".

OK here's my deal - this is not meant to replace or compete any other business. This is meant to be something easy to build, super easy to run and if it works for someone then great. And if it doesn't then there are other places folks can go. So it won't work for all scenarios, it won't work for all people and that's fine to me. It's not like I'll profit from it. And if Elaine wants to build something on her own, then I'm all for her or anyone doing whatever they want Power to the people and all that.

I think yours works great for many and is easy for some. I've just been fielding for others requests lately. All said, if people want super strict rules, I'm not for that. Yeah, I'm too sarcastic of a twit for that kind of crap. I absolutely followed the rules when I was a member there and had fun but it wasn't my favorite. I knew too many nice mods and WMs though. My rental list pointed to the owner's MO profile and listed when they joined MO so folks could get comfort. And vice versa on the other side. My plan is to build on the owner's list and leverage google forms to help distribute requests and connect folks and yes it would allow transfer offers/rentals as well. Kids' sports and schooling and turmoil as work (I work for a software startup and the recent banking issues have hit us so busy trying to see how things land) has slowed me down! I've been following some of that turmoil. Sounds like the next shoe to drop is going to be commercial real estate. I should do the spreadsheet thing. Facebook makes me grumpy. One thing to ask/point out....it still lists references to the old MO user names and what not. Would it be tough to update the questionnaire to reflect the new reality?
