You can beat me up for this, but I personally hope that people that are not active on the board are not eligible to participate in any renting or trading of points. Like maybe have a minimum post count before you can use it or something like that. If they want to make money off this board, then at least contribute in other ways. I am sure this will not be a popular opinion for a lot of people, but I have gotten old enough that I don't really care.!!! A bigger issue here is we don't have the luxury of time/history to use. We can limit who can post or see boards though. But I'm not sure where we are for a board anyway I used to be a frequent poster on MO as well as TUG. My postings have gone way down in recent years as life has gotten way busier and I waste way too much time on Twitter and FB. The owners of vacationpointexchange.com do a really nice job of verifying sellers for exchange/transfer of Marriott points. I sent them all my personal information and got verified with them and I’d be willing to do the same here.

If I were to rent out points, I would also be leery of renting out to someone new on the boards, would prefer to rent to someone that has been around a while.
As a renter. The bigger risk is finding a reputable owner. I rented points last year and was pretty stressful finding an owner. Im looking for points again this year but know I know I need to do due diligence. As so many dvc scams about. But there does need to be a mutual trust between both renter and owner. What Facebook groups are trustworthy ?

There is always the risk of scammers. Just the world we live in. Indeed. Some of the forums do it well that you have to be a premium member to rent points. But still doesn't stop scammers. Guess thats where resale stores come in. But you pay a hefty premium to use

My plan is to build on the owner's list and leverage google forms to help distribute requests and connect folks and yes it would allow transfer offers/rentals as well.
Kids' sports and schooling and turmoil as work (I work for a software startup and the recent banking issues have hit us so busy trying to see how things land) has slowed me down!

I have never liked the idea of paying to rent honestly. Just rubs me wrong but some of that comes from my disdain of a certain forum that actually scammed users. But there are ways to at least verify ownership without getting too creepy.
Scammers will scam though and we just cannot ever avoid it.

Can we try to move from Google Forms though for actual requests? It would be easier to spread work and give us faster responses for users. It could be a great resource but for those looking for fast transactions, it's a bit awkward to use if looking to rent points from some. Plus we kinda said we'd get the boards going Glad to help some so it isn't all on you.

The one issue with the form and this is more an issue to owners on it. Is not updating it to say they have no points.
I emailed a few over the weekend and all of the replies said they dint have any.
But like most things this is users not updating. the actual form is very useful.
Felt bad spending unsolicited emails tbh.

JMHO but I find the google form cumbersome. It’s not mobile app friendly. I don’t use my Google acct much, and having to log into it every time is a little of a nuisance. This is just me. If this was somewhere posted here on this site and not through Google, , I could easily go in and update it. Now you reminded me I need to go in and update my listing.

If this was somewhere posted here on this site and not through Google, , I could easily go in and update it. Now you reminded me I need to go in and update my listing. Tradeoffs in life for everything Google forms isn't perfect BUT it makes integrating into a spreadsheet *super* easy AND it can be integrated into a mailing list *super* easy. My plan is to have a form where people enter their requests and it goes out to the registered owners so they don't have to be logged into the forum to see rental requests.
Trying to do the same thru BBboards is well 100000x harder.
