First showed up in my NY Times California Today newsletter. Some details here. Good news for Anaheim and Orange County.
Cheers.

Lots of proposals. We'll see how much actually gets done, but I'm excited nonetheless.

Lots of proposals. We'll see how much actually gets done, but I'm excited nonetheless. Well, the city of Anaheim is getting a big chunk of money ($38m) or housing and community, so this is a positive no matter what else happens. We don't go to DL, so the details are less relevant to us. But the movement is good.
Cheers.

The first step in many..... It will be many years before there is anything meaningful actually built. In the long run, it is a win for Disneyland and gives them room to grow again.
I just read that there will be a second vote on May 7th and if it passes, takes effect 30 days later.
In the DisneylandForward proposal, Disney committed to spending $2.5 billion on an expansion of Disneyland Resort. $1.9 billion of that would be spent within the first 10 years. $30 million would go toward affordable housing in the area, $10 million would be for sewer improvements along Katella Avenue, and $8 million would be given to Anaheim parks.
Once it reaches complete approval, the DisneylandForward project will allow Disney to choose where it will build new lands, resort hotels, and more within its already existing footprint. One such offering that has already been proposed is a new “Avatar” experience, which had its first piece of concept art revealed earlier this month during Disney’s 2024 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.

Yeah, I know you are not a DL person. In fact, I think you have either never been or haven't been in a very long time. I never understood why you don't even want to try it once. DL is the original and has stuff that WDW doesn't. To each their own.

DL is the original and has stuff that WDW doesn't. To each their own. I went once for free as an organizer for a conference. It was fine, but nothing to write home about. very small. WDW is more expansive and our choice. Simply no reason to go to DL with so many places in the world to visit. But definitely a YMMV situation.
Cheers.

Having relocated from NJ to NV 25 years ago, we avoided visiting DL for many years. We were afraid that we would be disappointed after our many visits to DW. About 7 years ago, DH and I visited two weeks before Christmas. We stayed at the DL hotel and absolutely loved it. The intimacy was so nice, ease of getting around was great and many of the rides are just better. Three years later, our first great grandson was born. We treated him and his parents to a DL visit when he turned 2.
We now are magic key holders, have 2 great grandsons and visit twice a year…usually short trips, 3 - 4 nights. Enjoy being able to take all our stuff as we often drive. December 2022, we hosted an extended family trip that included a GV at VGC and a VIP tour…awesome!
We still love DW and visit there 2+ times a year. We enjoy the dining options and DVC variety more than DL. It feels more vacation like. We wouldn’t want to give up either.

Yesterday, the City of Anaheim gave final approval of the DisneyForward proposal. The plan will go into effect in 30 days, June 7th.
Expect some announcements in August, at the D23 convention. I do not expect any projects to start in 2024, except infrastructure (maybe).

Exciting times for DL. Sure, it's a 10-year project, but I'll be plenty young to enjoy it.
