I have not been able to access MouseOwners in the last day. (I am still checking both but only posting here.) I had seen seen some obvious SPAM posts there recently. Just wondered if anyone knew if it is now "gone". I greatly appreciate Helenabear (and yes, I always thought it was Helen a bear; rather than Helena) setting up this new board but also sad if the other board is gone finally. Lots of good memories and information. An end of an era. We bought DVC in 2008 and learned so much from MO.

Yep, I noticed that yesterday too. I had been trying to change my password on the site and was having trouble. I was going to try again yesterday and noticed it was down. Glad I saved all my trip reports last weekend!

I noticed this yesterday.
Personally I think it’s been taken down now that we are up and running, with the link having been posted a few times.
And yes, I’m sad too. 😢 But we have to look forward, not back. The community is here, and is already more active than MO was for the last few months.

Yeah, I was waiting for the weekend to get in and maybe save a few TRs, and it wouldn't load. phooey. Very sad. Will miss MO, but very glad for this new site/community.

Sad moment. Had hoped before it went down Kim would have gotten on there to say goodbye. Wanted to thank her for all the fabulous memories and wish her well.

Man, what an end of an era. I joined there in'07 after we bought direct at SSR and learned about resale but not before my 10 days ran out. It was great and forever happy Kim took care of it that long. Now happy for Elaine (and helpers) for the new adventure. I just tried to go to MO and it timed out for me. RIP MO

It's been down for a recorded 1 day and 20 hours. While it blipped a few times 2 days ago, it solidly went down in the early evening hours and never returned. I said this elsewhere - I have no access but tracing it shows the host is up and the name is still valid until later this year. Because of this, I do have to believe this was an end with either the paid host lapsing or a willful end. I cannot say for sure but only guess. I wonder if it would be possible when people go to MouseOwners, it could redirect them to MagicOwners? That would be something only Kim & Eric could do. I know there is a lot of hurt/emotions going on (far too long a story and too personal for me to share). I personally do not feel I have the right to ask and I was even given a "blessing" to move forward. I do give my thanks for all who kept www.mouseowners.com running all the years it did. Please if you know of anyone wanting to join point them here. If they are struggling, message me and I can do all I can to help register here via email and such. |

It’s been slightly agonizing waiting for that shoe to drop and hope others took heed and made the jump before MouseOwners shut down for good. A sad sad day but so grateful that we are all here. Hoping the others find us.

Hoping the others find us. Actually not really  This site was started in August 2021 and archived not long after. I just had to resurrect it. So most of my work along with others was done when the initial MouseOwners shut down was announced. Even the redirect was mostly ready and we just had to finish up a step or two. We were able to get it moving fast because of stuff done in 2021. I did speak with some before we agreed to move but how long MO would last was unknown to me. With the spambots I guessed not long. |

Ah then, at the very least an acute 6th sense that things were going downhill fast. I think we could all feel it. I know it’s hard to try to recreate magic in a bottle and you are all doing such a great job. Every day this site looks better and better, dare I say just like MOs. Many sincere thanks to all that made this happen.

Thanks so much for getting this up and running! Not sure about back story but it has been clear for a while now that the person running Mouseowners had lost their love of Disney some time ago. Very happy to have folks running the show here who still feel the magic. Looking forward to some fun trip reports and a whole lot of positivity!

Many sincere thanks to all that made this happen. A feeling, yes! I was glad we had it up and running before the spam bots came back and hacked old usernames. That one even caused me to swap passwords and emails one more time. We wanted a kind of familiar look without ripping off old MO. We plan to be the same very hands off approach too. |

Joining in the chorus of folks grateful to you, helenabear and your colleagues, for creating magicowners....and in the sadness of seeing MO go down. More grateful than sad and please please please let us know if our behavior helps/hurts (i.e., Dirk at one point noted that lots of MOs didn't post much (he said "participate")....I know I upped my posting game after reading that....but I can see me going in the opposite direction, too, and in an effort to be a "good participant" post too much that is no more than drivel....so the occasional comment about "too much/too little" or anything else that us users can do to make this site as good as possible would be welcome (at least by me)!
Gonna go have a chocolate dipped Walkers shortbread (w/Mickey on it) in honor of MO (mouseowners), and then a second one in honor of MO (magicowners)--
