Joe Rohde announced on Instagram that he is going to "Do a bit of work at the old farm" as he films himself walking up to the doors of WDW Imagineering offices. Very exciting! 2 things I can think of: 1) They are re imagining the Dino area of Animal Kingdom Park, which is for sure his old farm area. 2) They need a new head of Imagineering since Barbara Bouza that she is stepping down... Either way, it will be good to get him back and maybe do at least some interesting things for Disney.

He has returned to Walt Disney Imagineering to teach master class work sessions for imagineers.
This is a positive, yet it also shows the lack of the current staff.

He isn’t only doing the masterclasses. He is back as a consultant to WDI. I am slightly puzzled as to why it’s just been announced now, he had apparently signed a contract before Bouzza resigned. Maybe it was to avoid the appearance that she quit because of his return - which is possible if she was over-ruled on his appointment. Not saying she was, just wondering about the timeline. Hopefully he will be involved in the redo of Dinoland though.

Rohde. I love his vision, his enthusiasm, his attention to detail. But I tend to take his explanation of things with a grain of salt. He is a master wordsmith. Ask him if his vision for "ride x" was hampered by budget cuts and he will never throw Disney under the bus, but he will find a way to use lots of words to bs us into thinking that the final concept is actually a brilliant idea, and not one that was cut apart by the bean counters.
I'm sure it had to be frustrating for him to design Beastly Kingdom for AK only to have it cut and replaced with Camp Minnie/Mickey. BK would've been spectacular and a perfect fit for animal/fantasy based rides/shows.
So I hope his return is productive. But if I hear him say that a Zootopia theme in Dinoland is a great fit for the overall vision of AK..blech.

You folks are so much more informed on the inner workings of Disney. It is fantastic!
I'm quite dense with this stuff. Outside of who is the CEO, I have zero knowledge of anyone else within Disney.

I was under the impression , Mr. R was the creative designer for Expedition Everest attraction … perhaps the recent rumor that Dino the Ride will be rethemed to the journey of an explorer adventurer Similar to Indiana Jones but based on a life of real adventure as lived by this man’s life and He has a story to share …

Cool! He's one of the best Imagineers / Imagineering leaders to come out of that group. I think the whole of Animal Kingdom could easily be considered his "old farm" given his leadership in the original park, addition of Everest and Pandora.
No doubt he's good at spinning. Anyone who climbs that high in corporate has that skill honed, at the very least as a defense mechanism. Joe Rohde seems to have a talent for making lemonade from lemons, which is much more rare IMHO. Good for him that he is coming back!
Also, when Universal finishes work on the new park, there will be a lot of FL talent looking for new projects. Perhaps the stars align and creative talent hops back and forth from UO and WDW as those two behemoths continue to update/expand/improve the parks?

Maybe he came back so he can invite me to ride on Exibition Everest with him! I've always been a big fan of Joe Rhode and I can still remember how anxious I was in 2006 to ride "his" ride, EE. Unfortunately, my stomach didn't like it at all, and I've always said :The only way you'll get me on that ride again is if Joe Rhode himself invites me to ride with him!" I think my stomach's safe, though.
