DW and I decided to bring DS7and DS10 to Orlando for spring break (9 days - palm beach county), and decided to try and do some things that we have not done, and some things that we have.
We drove up on Saturday, traffic was a bit sucky. Thankfully it was only about 30 minutes longer than usual. We started with a chill day at our place in Champions Gate and got to relax, had a nice dinner at our clubhouse, and got to bed at a reasonable time.
Sunday we were up early to head to the Kennedy Space Center for a 9:15 VIP tour day with an astronaut. Parking was not included ($10). The cost of the whole day, From our perspective, was worth the money that it cost. We got to spend our time with Dr. Jan Davis who had spent over 28 days of time on 3 different space shuttle missions. She is such an amazing woman and individual with amazing experiences that she spoke with us about. We were taken on a bus to the launchpads and around the facility detailing what certain areas and buildings were used for. The information given was super cool to absorb. Our kids were just as excited as we were. We also did some of the shows, with no line or waiting, with this special access for the entire group. Also, They provided a buffet lunch which met our expectations. I will say that if people are picky eaters, may want to plan to bring something with you. When the tour finished at around 2:30 you can do whatever you wanted, include
in taking a different bus to see a Saturn V rocket. By this point the kids were done, so we headed out, knowing that the kids would come back again with the grandparents or us. When we got home we took the kids to the pool and after drying up we walked over and had dinner outside at the club restaurant.
On Monday, we had Lunch at the Edison. It was ok. DW and I both had the grilled cheese (bacon and tomato on mine) and tomato soup. Kids had chicken finegers, French fries and a desert salad. Used the gift cards we bought during Christmas at the PatinaGroup. The $50 gift card (had to be used by 3/31/2024) is used like a coupon, and the $100 card was used to the balance of our meal (ended up with about $35 left for another time). Afterwards, we drove to the Museum of illusions at Icon park. We had read some reviews, so we would t have the wrong expectations. We had purchased tickets thru a website called ticketsatwork.com so I got a small disvount via my job. It was a bit pricey (~$100 for all of us) for about an hour of time it took us to go thru it, but we all thought it was very cool. There’s a parking garage on site, levels 2 & 3 were an hourly charge of $5, but less walking to get to the ground level. It was a nice change from our normal. We went ahead and ordered Chinese food from 126 Chinese Restaurant in Kissimmee. The food is outstanding!
Tuesday we did food and wine at Epcot and actually hit up some booths which we normally don’t do. There is a great Food and Wine app that we used called WDW Food&Wine. Our first time using the app, and it was sooooo helpful planning out our food stops on a map, and knowing the prices as well. We took tons of pictures of us as well as the topiaries. Walked around and did some rides. We were almost tempted to do Mission space Orange after our NASA trip…then we were like, nah! lol
Today we are heading over to the Rheams road area to meet up with our realtor to take a look at some places behind MK. Always good to keep an eye out…never know what we may find…
Thursday we have reservations at T-Rex for lunch to use our other gift cards from Landrys. Friday night dinner at Narcooses. Not sure which days we will book the Crayola experience or the Chocolate experience, and can’t forget Gatorland. Toss in some disney…hopefully we will have some more memories and fun!
